Atari is not a name that many would associate with online casino gambling, but the company is launching multiple social and real money casino apps in 2014.
The legendary Japanese electronics company Atari, the same firm that pioneered the video game revolution during the 1980s with games like “Asteroids,” “Centipede” and “Missile Command,” is about to launch the social casino game “Atari Jackpots.”
Players will be able to enjoy slots, video poker, blackjack, solitaire and bingo, and gameplay and support will be offered in English, Portuguese, Romanian and French, among other languages.
The launch marks the first time in the company’s 30+ year history that it will put its name on a casino game. Atari Jackpots will be the first of many casino-oriented games as Atari looks to benefit from the growing online and mobile casino gambling industries.
Real money Atari Casino is on the way
CEO Fred Chesnais sees the move as part of a long-term growth strategy for the company: “This first release of ‘Atari Jackpots’ is a step into online casinos, leveraging the rapidly growing interest in social casinos to offer a fun experience… We wanted to engage rapidly with our loyal fans”.
While Atari Jackpots is a free-to-play social game, the company is making gambling news by partnering with developer Pariplay to develop a real money casino application that will be called “Atari Casino.” The app is on schedule to launch later this year.
