Another Two Applicants for the Nevada Online Poker License

Two more Las Vegas land casinos applied for interactive poker licenses in Nevada. Hard Rock casino and Treasure Island joined the club of those who want to operate American online poker within the Silver State.

The Hard Rock application was submitted under BREF Interactive Gaming. According to American gambling news, the Brookfield Real Estate Financial subsidiary is negotiating with several solution providers to acquire online poker software.

Switch Communications Group submitted an application to run an online gambling hosting center. A so-called hosting license is given to a location that provides online casino computer networks and is not housed in a land based gambling spot.

A couple of other companies have also applied for licenses to conduct online gaming activities, an operator license is given solely to establishments that also have land-based casino permits from the state.

Altogether 12 applicants for interactive poker license in Nevada have already been approved. MGM Resorts International ‘s application was granted last week. In October, Boyd Gaming, Golden Nugget and Fertitta Interactive joined WMS Gaming Inc., American Casino and Entertainment Properties, Shuffle Master, International Game Technology, South Point Poker, Monarch Interactive, Bally Technologies, and Global Cash Access.

Judging by the number of applicants, online poker is likely to be as big as live poker in Nevada. However, there is no information available when the first real-money online poker site will launch. South Point postponed its debut, naming negotiations and delays in testing as the main reasons.
