American Gambling Laws to Be Discussed at East Coast Gaming Congress

To be or not to be, that is the question. The immortal words of Shakespeare’s Hamlet best describe the current status of American gambling laws. Industry insiders and humble gamers alike are still left wondering if and when online gaming in USA will become legal.

A new gathering, East Coast Gaming Congress, will certainly touch upon the topic, when industry big-shots and some law makers appear in Atlantic City this week. The fate of online sportsbooks in United States and internet gambling in general is expected to generate the hottest debates once again.

The conference is dubbed as one of the biggest annual gambling industry events in USA, hosting over 600 people from within the industry and including government representatives.

The main host of the conference, law firm Cooper Levenson, is confident that sports betting and online casinos in United States will be the main point on the agenda. Lloyd D. Levenson had the following comments: “We’ve never been this close to Internet gaming. We’ve talked about it for 10 years. And we’re closer than ever to sports betting.”

He went on to add: “It certainly takes New Jersey outside traditional gaming and puts us at the forefront of the initiatives that can change the dynamics of our jurisdiction. The Internet is another source of tremendous potential revenue.”

Among the main speakers at the conference we can expect to see Governor Kim Guadagno, well-known gambling proponent State Senator Raymond Lesniak, Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise, Inc. representative Scott Butera, Kevin DeSanctis from Revel Entertainment, Mitchell Etess of Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, and Gary Loveman from Caesars Entertainment, among many others.
