Despite trailing Hillary in delegate count, Bernie Sanders swept this weekend’s Democratic Primaries. If his popularity continues, there’s a real chance for him to become President. Is now the time to bet on Bernie Sanders?
Best odds to win Democratic Nomination at Bet365 Sportsbook
- Clinton to win at 1.07 (7/100)
- Sanders to win at 8.50 (15/2)
The victories were convincing: Alaska, 81.6% to 18.4%; Hawaii, 69.8% to 30.0%; Washington, 72.7% to 27.1%. Sanders now only trails Clinton by 268 delegates, with 975 to her 1243. With left-leaning Wisconsin coming up on April 5th, he will likely eat further into that lead. After that comes Wyoming, then the important New York primary on April 19th. Sanders may trailing in some NY polls, but he was further behind in Michigan, which he won.
If Bernie continues to do well in the next few primaries, he will look like a serious contender for President. If he manages to edge ahead of Clinton, Superdelegates may feel obliged to back him. It’s not easy to bet on elections in the US, so for those who bet in the EU, is it time to bet on Bernie Sanders for the democratic nomination?
The answer: yes. He may not win, but he has momentum and his odds are likely to drop as he picks up more states. If you’re ever going to bet on him to beat Clinton, now is the time.
Could it be time to bet on Bernie Sanders for President
Best odds to win US Presidential Election at Bet365 Sportsbook
- Clinton to win at 1.40 (2/5)
- Trump to win at 4.00 (3/1)
- Sanders to win at 13.00 (12/1)
The next question on gamblers lips: if we’re betting on Bernie to beat Clinton, should we bet on the Presidential election instead? The answer: probably yes. Nationwide polls suggest that Bernie would beat either Trump or Cruz, probably even more convincingly than Hillary would.
The one potential hiccup is if the Republic Party manages to somehow wrestle control from Trump at a convention, and nominates some charming, convincing candidate that has thus far not been mentioned. However, even if they can somehow to find a Republican that more than half of America could tolerate, they would have no legitimacy. Trump supporters, feeling cheated, might not support this mystery candidate; Donald might even run as an independent.
So, is it time to bet on Bernie Sanders? The answer is clear: yes. If you think he might win the Democratic nomination, you might as well bet on Sanders for president. The biggest question is if he can beat Clinton. And with odds of 13.00 (12/1), it’s definitely worth jumping on the bandwagon. Even if, thanks to US gambling laws, his supporters can’t join you!
