The first women’s tournament in Switzerland was held back in 1917. And it has been organized in different locations until 1995. It returned to the WTA Tour calendar in 2016 in a former location, Gstaad which only hosted the event for three years. Then the tournament moved to Lausanne where it also received a new title, Ladies Open Lausanne.

The WTA 250 event is held on outdoor clay courts with 32 players taking part in the main draw. We can find such top players in previous winners as Chris Evert or Lindsay Davenport along with four Swiss players. The world No17 Belinda Bencic will try to be the next Swiss champion. But we can find a few more aspirants for the title and their share of the $251,750 prize money.

2022 WTA Lausanne Winner Odds Mention Top 15 Players as Main Favorites

Belinda Bencic has six WTA Tour titles so far while she also won the gold medal in last year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo. This season the 25-year-old Swiss player won the Charleston Open in April, defeating Ons Jabeur in the final. It was her first title on clay court which can be a promising sign ahead of this tournament. Even though Bencic was knocked out already in the first round in Wimbledon by Chinese Wang Qiang.

The second seed of the tournament will start against French Diane Perry who reached the third round in Wimbledon. Stil,l Bencic is favored to win the match by online sportsbooks in Switzerland. They also offer the smallest odds, 3.52 for her overall victory.

American Danielle Collins follows Bencic in the 2022 WTA Lausanne winner odds with the odds of 5.85. The 28-year-old player is having the best season of her career after getting to the final of the 2022 Australian Open. Even though she lost there against Ashleigh Barty, she moved into the top 10 in the world rankings.

Currently, ly she is in 7th place. The top seed of the tournament hasn’t had such great results since then. Collins only reached the second round in the French Open and was knocked out in the first round in Wimbledon. She can get back to winning in Switzerland now where she will start against local wildcard player SimonWalterrt.

Chances of the Defending Champion and Other Players

Tamara Zidansek won the tournament last year after she defeated French Clara Burel iethe  2021 final. Now the Slovenian player will try to defend her only WTA Tour title, but it won’t be an easy task. She is only the seventh seed which means that she can meet Collins already in the quarterfinals.

The world No55 reached the third round in this year’s Australian and French Opens but was out in the first round in Wimbledon. Zidansek will start against Russian Anna Kalinskaya with thandds of 1.458 to win the match. Her odds to win her second WTA Tour title are 7.90 on 22Bet.

Online gambling sites in Switzerland mention the third seed, Irina-Camelia Begu among the favorites with the odds of 9.10. The Romanian player reached the semi-final in St Petersburg in February. And she also got to the fourth round in the French Open for the first time since 2016. Begu has four WTA Tour titles but the last one is from four years ago, from the 2017 Bucharest Open.

It was also played on clay, so it seems to be her strongest surface. Another player mentioned with similar odds is Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo. The world No39 has one WTA Tour title so far which she won last year in Mexico. This season she reached the quarter-final of her first WTA 1000 event in Madrid which can motivate her for other good results.
