The 2022 Tour of Britain started yesterday, the 4th of September in Aberdeen and will finish on the Isle of Wight on Sunday, the 11th of September. Wout van Aert is the defending champion, but his team, Jumbo-Visma is not competing this year. Unlike Ineos Grenadiers, whose rider, Tom Pidcock is the biggest favorite in the 2022 Tour of Britain odds. His teammate, Omar Fraile can also compete for the victory along with the current leader, Corbyn Strong.
The first multi-stage cycling race in Britain was held in 1944. But the race in its current format only started in 2004. In the previous winners, we can find such top cyclists as Bradley Wiggins, Steve Cummings, and Julian Alaphilippe. But two of the current star riders, Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert have also won this tournament. This year, only five World Tour teams take part in the race, including Ineos and Israel-Premier Tech. But several other ProTeams, along with Continental and national teams are also competing. So fans can still see some great cyclists in all eight stages between 4-11 September. Let’s see the main favorites for the overall victory now.
2022 Tour of Britain Odds Highly Favor Pidcock’s Victory
Tom Pidcock’s best result this year has been his stage victory at the 2022 Tour de France which also earned him the combativity award. The 23-year-old British rider has great results from one-day races like his win at the 2021 Brabantse Pijl. Or his third-place finish at the 2022 Dwars door Vlaanderen. He just won the European Mountain Bike Championship but can achieve his biggest success on road here. At least according to online sportsbooks in the UK that offer the smallest odds, 2.25 for his overall win.
Pidcock will be supported by strong teammates, like Omar Fraile who finished second in the first stage yesterday. The Spanish cyclist is a great climber. He won the Mountains classification twice in the Vuelta. While he also got stage wins in the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia in previous years. The 32-year-old joined Ineos this year and can be big support of Pidcock. His odds to win the race himself are 7.50 in the 2022 Tour of Britain odds. The same odds are offered for the overall victory of the current leader, Corbin Strong. The young Kiwi cyclist got his biggest stage win on road yesterday, proving his skills to his team, Israel-Premier Tech.
Other favorites from the top two teams
A third Ineos rider, Magnus Sheffield’s odds are also 7.50 on bet365 to win in Britain. The 20-year-old American has already won this year’s Brabantse Pijl and a stage in the Vuelta a Andalucia. He also finished second in the overall race in the Danmark Rundt and third in the road in the National Championship. One of the most experienced cyclists in the field, Richie Porte is also a member of the British team. It will be the 37-year-old Australian rider’s last race where he can still get a good result following. He was riding well in this year’s Giro d’Italia and was a key help for Richard Carapaz. Porte’s overall victory is not very likely though and has the odds of 151.00.
Online gambling sites in the UK offer a much bigger chance and an odds of 11.00 for the win of Dylan Teuns. The Belgian cyclist won this year’s La Fleche Wallonne and a stage in Tour de Romandie. This is his first race riding in his new team, Israel-Premier Tech after leaving Bahrein midseason. So surely he will be motivated to get a good result for his new team. That he is more than capable of after his previous victories in Tour de Wallonie and Tour de Pologne. His teammate at Israel, Michael Woods is another top rider with great results from Grand Tours and stage races. The Canadian was fifth in this race last year and has an odds of 34.00 to win it this time.
