The world No1 Jon Rahm is the top favorite now ahead of Thomas, Cantlay and Hovland
The 2021/22 PGA Tour season continues this weekend with the WM Phoenix Open, held between 10-13 February at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. Brooks Koepka is the defending champion but he will have a very tough job to defend his title in the super-strong field. That will include world No1 Jon Rahm who also leads the 2022 PGA Phoenix Open odds.
One of the most popular tournaments of the PGA Tour, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is held this weekend at TPC Scottsdale. Its relaxed atmosphere earned the event the “The Greatest Show on Grass” nickname. Four players managed to win here three times since the inaugural event in 1932 including Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. Brooks Koepka got his second victory here last year. He will go for his third win this weekend, but it won’t be an easy job. As we can find 18 of the top 30 players in the field, including world No1 Jon Rahm, world No3 Viktor Hovland and world No4 Patrick Cantlay. But following the surprise winners of the previous tournaments lately, even a less-known player can win the $1,460,000 prize.
2022 PGA Phoenix Open Odds Mention Rahm as the Top Favorite
Jon Rahm took over the lead in the official world golf rankings in July 2020. He also won the 2021 PGA Player of the Year Award after a brilliant season. As the Spanish golfer won his first major title at the 2021 US Open and finished T3 at the Open Championship. He was also a member of the European team in last year’s Ryder Cup but he didn’t play that well there. In the new season, he has a second-place finish from the Sentry Tournament of Champions. And a T3 finish from the Farmers Insurance Open. Rahm has also got good results at Scottsdale in the previous years, though he hasn’t won here yet. Online sportsbooks in the US favor him to win it now with the odds of +700.00.
Justin Thomas is mentioned next with the odds of +1200.00 in the 2022 PGA Phoenix Open odds. The world No7 has been in good form since winning the Ryder Cup with the US team last September. He finished third in the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba last November and T5 in the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Thomas hasn’t won any tournament since last March, but he might get the win at one of his strongest course. Where he has four top-five finishes in his last seven appearances. The world No4 Patrick Cantlay is in a great form too after finishing in the top 10 in his last three tournaments this year. The 29-year-old player will his make his debut at Scottsdale with the odds of +1500.00 on BetOnline to win it.
Matsuyama, Hovland and Other Favorites
Hideki Matsuyama has already won this tournament twice before, two years in a row in 2016 and 2017. Now the Japanese golfer will aim for his third victory in Phoenix. Where he has the odds of +1600.00 for another victory. The winner of the 2021 Masters Tournament is in 10th place at the world ranking and has a win this year from the 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii. Same odds are offered for the world No3 Viktor Hovland. The Norwegian won the World Wide Technology Championship and the Hero World Challenge at the end of 2021. Hovland moved to the highest ranking of his career due to his great performance in the European Tour this year. As he finished in the top 5 at the Abu Dhabi Championship and won the Dubai Desert Classic.
Online gambling sites in the US offer the odds of +3000.00 for the win of Brooks Koepka. The defending champion can get his third victory at Scottsdale. His previous results can definitely motivate him for another good performance. But the four-time major champion isn’t in his best form as he got his last PGA Tour victory at this tournament last year. Sam Burns have the same odds to get his third PGA Tour win in Phoenix. The young American won the previous two last autumn but he hasn’t been in that form this year yet. It might change now at Scottsdale where he finished T22 in 2021.
