The 2022 PDC Players Championship Finals is held this weekend, between 25-27 November in Minehead, England. 64 players will compete in the tournament but the defending champion, Peter Wright has withdrawn. We can still see the other top players, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, and Michael Smith in the event. As usual, they are all mentioned among the favorites in the 2022 PDC Players Championship Finals prediction.
This will be the 14th edition of the Players Championship Finals in which the top 64 players of the series take part. Their ranking is based on the prize money they won across the 30 events of the Players Championship. Following his great results, Australian Damon Heta is the top seed ahead of Luke Humphries and Nathan Aspinall. We can also find the top players of the world ranking in the field from Michael van Gerwen to Gerwyn Price. But the world No2 Peter Wright won’t compete this time after he has withdrawn from the tournament due to family reasons. His absence will offer another chance for his main rivals to win the title. But other top-form players and the top seeds of the tournament can also do well.
The 2022 PDC Players Championship Finals Prediction Favors MVG Ahead of Price
Probably it won’t be a surprise that online sportsbooks in the UK mention Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price as top favorites. MVG has been the most successful player in this tournament with six wins and one runner-up finish. Last year the world No3 only got to the quarter-finals, but he can try to go all the way again. Van Gerwen has already won three major events this season but he is only the 22nd seed in this event. The Dutch world champion’s recent form hasn’t been the best either. After he was beaten in the quarter-finals by Luke Humphries at the Grand Slam of Darts last week. Now his odds to win his 7th title here are 5.50.
The world-ranking leader Gerwyn Price has a similar chance of winning according to the 2022 PDC Players Championship Finals prediction. The Iceman also finished in the quarter-finals last week after he lost the match against Raymond van Barneveld. His best result from this tournament is a runner-up finish in 2019, last year he was knocked out in the third round. Price has one major win this season with his victory at the World Series of Darts Finals. He also won two events in the 2022 Players Championship series. But it only made him the eighth seed. The Welsh player is still the second favorite of bookmakers to win the event with an odds of 6.50.
Heta, Humphries, and Aspinall can aim for victory
Damon Heta is having the best season of his career, after winning the World Cup of Darts along with Simon Whitlock. He also won the Gibraltar Darts Trophy in October which was his first European Tour victory. Heta managed to defeat both Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright along the way. Even though he is only in 18th place in the world ranking, he is the top seed of this tournament following his great results in this series. Online gambling sites in the UK still offer quite high odds, 19.00 for his win in the finals. We can find slightly smaller odds next to Luke Humphries who also performed well recently.
The young English player got to the semi-finals in the Grand Slam of Darts and won four events in the 2022 European Tour. The world No5 also appeared in three finals of the Players Championship series and won one of them. He is the second seed in the finals with an odds of 15.00 to win it. The third seed of this event, Nathan Aspinall also got some great results from this series. He reached the finals on five occasions and managed to win two of them. The world No8 also got to the finals of two major events this year. In the World Grand Prix and in the Grand Slam of Darts, but lost both matches. Now his odds to win his second major title are 21.00 on 888sport.
