The 10th race of this season’s NASCAR Cup Series, the 2022 Geico 500 is held this Sunday, on the 24th of April at Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama. Brad Keselowski won the event last year and he is the favorite again. But his ex-teammate and current overall second Ryan Blaney is the top favorite in the 2022 NASCAR Geico 500 betting predictions.
The Geico 500 race is one of the most prestigious events on the NASCAR calendar. It is considered the fifth Crown Jewel race along with Brickyard 400 and the three originals. The race is held at the Talladega Superspeedway which is the longest oval in this year’s schedule with a 2,66-mile-long tri-oval. The first race here was held in 1969 and it has been part of the Cup Series ever since. Brad Keselowski is the defending champion who got his fourth victory last year. He has the most wins at the track along with Jeff Gordon. This year his former teammate at Team Penske, Ryan Blaney is the biggest favorite along with other former race winners.
Blaney Is the Top Favorite in the 2022 NASCAR Geico 500 Betting Predictions
Ryan Blaney has been one of the most consistent drivers this season with his six top 10 finishes out of ten races. The Team Penske driver is currently in second place in the overall standings but only three points behind the leader, Chase Elliott. The 28-year-old has already won the Geico 500 once, two years ago while he finished 9th last year. Now online sportsbooks in the US offer the smallest odds, +1000.00 for his victory. It would be his first win of the season and the 8th Cup Series victory in his career.
One of his main rivals can be his teammate, Joey Logano who has the odds of 1100.00 to win the race in the 2022 NASCAR Geico 500 betting predictions. The 2018 Cup Series champion is in third place in the table, 18 points behind Blaney. Thanks to his podium finish in the last two races and his stable driving at the other events. He might get his first win of the season in Alabama where he won three times between 2015 and 2018. His recent results weren’t so great though after finishing only 39th in last year’s race.
Several Other Drivers Can Win The Race Including The Current Leader
The 2020 champion, Chase Elliott leads the championship at the moment and seems to be back in his top form. Even though he hasn’t won any race yet, he finished in the top 10 in all events except the Californian and Richmond races. But the Hendrick Motorsports driver has a good chance of winning now at the track where he got the victory in 2019. His odds to do it again are +1400.00 on BetOnline. Similar odds are offered for the victory of Danny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski despite both drivers struggling this season. Hamlin is only in 23rd place following some poor results. He got the win in Richmond but only finished 28th and 35th in the last two races.
But the Joe Gibbs Racing driver is one of the best superspeedway drivers so might turn his season this weekend. Just like last year’s race winner, Brad Keselowski. He swapped teams in the summer and now races for RFK Racing where he is also the co-owner. The 2012 champion’s results haven’t been too good though so far with only one top 10 finish all season. Online gambling sites in the US also offer the odds of +1400.00 for the victory of Bubba Wallace Jr. The 28-year-old was close to winning in this year’s Daytona 500 and won at Talladega last autumn. His recent results haven’t been too convincing but he can get a much better one this weekend.
