This season’s PDC European Tour will continue in Budapest this weekend, with the 2022 Hungarian Darts Trophy. It is the 10th event of the 13-stage Tour with all top players taking part in it. Michael van Gerwen is the main favorite to win at BOK Sportcsarnok according to the 2022 Hungarian Darts Trophy odds. Along with the defending champion, Gerwyn Price who defeated Michael Smith in last year’s final.

This will be only the second Hungarian Darts Trophy after the tournament made its debut on the PDC European Tour last year. 48 players will compete for the trophy and the £25,000 winner’s share from the £140,000 prize fund. Gerwyn Price is the defending champion after beating Michael Smith in last year’s final. And he will be among the top favorites again along with the three-time world champion, Michael van Gerwen.

The Dutch player has already won three events out of the nine stages. But Luke Humphries has been doing even better with his four victories. Besides the two top favorites, we can also see the reigning world champion, Peter Wright, and the runner-up, Michael Smith. Just like the fans’ favorites, Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld and three Hungarian players.

MVG and Iceman lead the 2022 Hungarian Darts Trophy odds

Michael van Gerwen has been in great form all season after winning this year’s World Matchplay and the Premier League Final. He also got the win at the Queensland Darts Masters in the world series. Besides his three trophies at this year’s PDC European Tour. No wonder MVG is the top favorite of online sportsbooks in Hungary as well. They offer the smallest odds, 6.00 for his win in Budapest.

Even though he wasn’t too successful here last year and only got to the third round. Surely van Gerwen can do much better now and go all the way to the final. First, he will play against the winner of the Simon Whitlock vs Janos Vegso match where fans will hope for a Hungarian success.

One of Van Gerwen’s big rivals can be Gerwyn Price who follows him closely with an odds of 6.50 in the 2022 Hungarian Darts Trophy odds. The Welsh player has good memories from this tournament after winning here last year. But the Iceman doesn’t have so many wins this season. In spite of reaching the final of the 2022 World Matchplay and the World Cup of Darts.

He did win the New Zealand Darts Masters against his Welsh teammate, Jonny Clayton. And the Belgian Darts Championship on the European Tour. Price also produced some amazing nine-dart finishes this year. So if we’re lucky, we might see another one from him this weekend.

Clayton, Humphries, and Smith can also win the event

Jonny Clayton had a superb season in 2021 when he won several PDC tournaments but this year he hasn’t got such results. He still won a World Series event in New South Wales and got to the final of the World Cup of Darts. But in the European Tour, he is without a win yet, with the odds of 9.00 to get it now. The reigning world champion, Peter Wright will make his return following a gallstone surgery.

Snakebite hasn’t won any major event since his second world title. But he reached the final in the International Darts Open and the semi-finals of the European Darts Grand Prix and the US Darts Masters. His odds to win now are 10.00.

Online gambling sites in Hungary only mention the leader of the European Tour Order of Merit, Luke Humphries next with odds of 12.00. The English player has won four events on the tour this season. So it looks like it’s the perfect stage for Cool Hand Luke. His results in other PDC Pro Tour events are not so great though with usually going out early in most tournaments.

As the second seed now, he will only start in the second round with a possible meeting with Clayton in the third round. His compatriot, Michael Smith was the runner-up in this tournament last year. He has the odds of 13.00 for the victory now. Bully Boy started the season well after reaching the final at the World Championship and the UK Open. He won the Dutch Darts Championship in May but hasn’t got any win since.
