The third major women’s golf tournament, the 2021 KPMG PGA Championship takes place this week between 24-27 June at Atlanta Athletic Club. The world’s best players will compete for the victory including the defending champion Sei Young Kim. But young talent Nelly Korda can also win her maiden major title according to the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship predictions.
There has been a tendency in the last few years of maiden victories won at the major championships in women’s golf. Just like Thai Patty Tavatanakit and Filippino Yuka Saso did in the previous two majors of this year at the 2021 ANA Inspiration and 2021 US Women’s Open. Now American fans hope that their favorite, Nelly Korda can also win her first major title in Georgia. But she won’t have an easy job in the field of 156 players including the defending champion, Sei Young Kim. Beside the world ranking leader Jin Young Ko and all other top 10 players. Atlanta Athletic Club hosts the event for the first time in its history so it can be quite challenging for all players.
2021 Women’s PGA Championship predictions favor 3-time PGA winner
Inbee Park has already won the Women’s PGA Championship three times between 2013 and 2015. She is currently in second place in the world ranking and the top favorite of online sportsbooks in the US. Which is no surprise after Park also finished as a runner-up in last year’s tournament. The South Korean won the Kia Classic this year and got 6 more top-10 finishes in her last 9 appearances. With such an experience and form, it will be very difficult to beat her.
But one of the greatest talents of the sport, Nelly Korda can get close to her according to the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship predictions. The 22-year-old American has 5 LPGA Tour wins including a victory at Meijer LPGA Classic last week. She got close to winning her first major in the 2020 ANA Inspiration where she finished T2. While her best result from this tournament is a T3 finish from 2019. Korda shot a career-low 62 in her last event and moved to the third place in the world ranking. She might get her awaited first major title now just like Jon Rahm did last week.
Defending champion and the world No1 are also in the favorites
Back to the South Korean players we find the world ranking leader Jin Young Ko in the field who is also in the top favorites. Even though she hasn’t won any event this year. And her best result is only two fourth-place finishes. But Ko performs well in the majors, she has already won the ANA Inspiration and the Evian Championship. While her best result in the PGA Championship is a T11 finish from 2018. Her compatriot, defending champion Sei Young Kim got close to winning in this year’s Lotte Championship. Since then she hasn’t got such great results but it can all turn now in Georgia.
Online gambling sites in the US also mention another American player, Lexi Thompson with small odds. The 26-year-old was leading in this year’s US Women’s Open before losing the title at the end. Now the world No7 can try again to win her second major after her victory in the 2014 ANA Inspiration. But she must concentrate more in her 53rd major appearance to get the win. While the surprise winner of the previous major tournament, Yuka Saso is still a long-shot bet. But the 2021 US Women’s Open champion might get some extra boost from her visit to Rory McIlroy. And continue her historic season after she won on her first start as a tour member.
