Finally the new Formula E season will start this weekend with a double-header weekend in Saudi Arabia. 12 teams and 24 drivers are taking part in the competition where we can find several familiar names in the drivers. Like Jean-Eric Vergne or Sebastien Buemi who are also in the favorites of the 2021 Formula E world championship winner odds.

The electric version of Formula 1 is getting more and more popular every season, thanks to its exciting races and unpredictable results. All races are held on city circuits around the world from Asia to South America. While the organizers of Formula E also increase the excitement with special features. Like the ‘fanboost’, where the top five drivers with the most votes can benefit from a boost of power. Or the ‘attack mode’, when drivers need to drive over sensors to get some extra power.

8 races have been confirmed for the current, seventh season but there is a plan for 6 more events. Hopefully they can also go ahead. But the first two races will definitely be held in the capital of Saud Arabia in Riyadh this weekend with the first night races of the series. Portuguese Antonio Felix de Costa is the defending champion but we can find five previous champions in the field. So almost anyone can win again or get his first title.

2021 Formula E world championship winner odds favor the defending champion

Antonio Felix de Costa was driving in different series like GP3 and Formula 3 before joining the Formula E competition in its first season, 2014-15. The winner of the 2012 and 2016 Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix didn’t achieve great results in this series until last year. When he had an outstanding season with 3 race wins and 6 podium finishes. The Portuguese managed to defeat his teammate at DS Techeetah, the two-time champion Jean-Eric Vergne and won the championship. Now online sportsbooks in Portugal predict his victory again with the odds of 5.50.

One of his main rivals can be Jean-Eric Vergne again who has the odds of 6.00 in the 2021 Formula E world championship winner odds. The French won the competition in 2018 and 2019 and finished third last season. He was very unlucky on many occasions and had to retire twice in the season. But Vergne is still very fast and drives the best car in the field. Surely the former Toro Rosso F1 driver will try to get back his title and defeat his teammate and everyone else.

Other favorites include Buemi, Vandoorne and Bird

Another familiar name is Stoffel Vandoorne who also competed in Formula 1 before. He was driving for McLaren for two seasons between 2016 and 2018.  While he is also the test driver of Mercedes at the moment. But the Belgian has had his best result  in Formula E last season after finishing second in the overall standing. The former G2 Series winner showed his racing skills after securing his second place in the last race. Now Vandoorme has the odds of 8.00 to finish on top and get the victory for Mercedes-EQ.

Same odds are offered for the victory of Sebastien Buemi by online gambling sites in Portugal. The Swiss driver has also spent three seasons in Formula 1 competing for Toro Rosso. Then he became the reserve driver of Red Bull. He won the Formula E Championship in the 2015-16 season and finished second two more times. Buemi also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in the last three years and the FIA Endurance Championship in 2019. Driving for Nissan e.dams, he can try to win another title in Formula E as well. Meanwhile British fans are hoping to see the first British champion this season. Sam Bird has the smallest odds, 9.00 on bet365 to achieve that with his new team, Jaguar Racing.
