  • 2021 British Masters is held this week, 12-15 May at The Belfry
  • It is one of the most iconic venues in the UK after hosting four Ryder Cups
  • Robert McIntyre is the top favorite ahead of former major champions

This year’s British Masters will be held at an iconic venue, at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield between the 12th and 15th of May. Scottish Robert McIntyre is the highest ranked player in the field and one of the biggest favorites in the 2021 British Masters winner odds. But former winners of the venue, like Danish Rasmus Hojgaard, can perform well again.

The first British Masters was held in 1946 under the name of Dunlop Masters. The event has been held every year since with the exception of 1984. This year one of the most famous British venues, The Belfry will host it. After being the home of four Ryder Cups and last year’s UK Championship. Danny Willett, the 2016 US Masters champion hosts the tournament. Following other famous players like Lee Westwood and Justin Rose. The British Masters is part of the 2021 European Tour which also offers opportunity for top points earners to qualify for the 2021 US Open. With some players also aiming for a spot in this year’s Ryder Cup team.

2021 British Masters winner odds favor Scottish and German top-100 players

Robert McIntyre is currently in 45th place in the world ranking which makes him the highest ranked player in the field. The Scottish golfer is also the top favorite of online sportsbooks in the UK with the odds of 15.00. Even though he only has one European Tour win so far, which he claimed last year at the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown. But McIntyre was also a joint runner-up in the 2019 British Masters. And in the 2019 Made in Denmark tournament. He also finished third in the 2021 Dubai Desert Classic and T12 in this year’s Masters, making him a clear favorite.

But German Martin Kaymer, a former world No1 and two-time major champion will go for glory too. His odds to win his 12th European Tour event is 19.00 in the 2021 British Masters winner odds. Kaymer got back to form last season after a five-year winless period. As he finished T3 in the 2020 UK Championship. He was also third in the 2021 Austrian Open last month but looking for an even better result now. Just like Austrian Bern Wiesberger who has the same odds to win here. The most successful Austrian golfer has 7 European Tour wins so far. With the last one being the 2019 Italian Open. He finished fifth last year at The Belfry, but can finish ahead of that with more concentration.

Young talents and the host of the event can also win

Online gambling sites in the UK also mention Danish Rasmus Hojgaard in the favorites, with the same odds, 19.00. The 20-year-old player won on this course last year at the UK Championship which was his second European Tour victory. He has two top-10 finishes this season. But  Hojgaard is definitely capable of a much better result. Another young player, 24-year-old Sam Horsfield won his first two European Tour wins in the UK last summer. He has been in great form this season as well after finishing in the top-15 in his last four events. His odds to win his third event is 21.00.

While the host of the event, Danny Willett can also achieve a great result here. The winner of the 2016 Masters has seven European Tour victories. He got the last one at the 2019 PGA Championship but hasn’t been in great form since. Now Willett has a great opportunity to prove his skills and the odds of 29.00 on bet365. The defending champion, Renato Paratore’s win would be a miracle though. The Italian has another win from 2017. But at the moment he is only in 175th place on the Race to Dubai ranking. His chances are clearly shown in his odds of 126.00 to win again.
