Best Drama Series nominees at BAFTA TV
This year, four outstanding drama series got nominations for BAFTA TV in the respective category. Three Sky Atlantic hits – Gangs of London, I Hate Suzie, Save Me Too – and Netflix’s The Crown will compete for the award on June 6, 2021.
According to the early-bird predictions by FanTeam, the award for Drama Series will be given to The Crown. The 4th season of the series about the Royal Family got the most attention as it introduced Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher played by Emma Corrin and Gillian Anderson respectively. Both critics and viewers adored acting in season 4 as well as the dramatic history of the Diana-Charles relationship. Let’s not also forget about the real-life tragedy that happened in the Royal Family last month. Elizabeth II’s beloved husband passed away at the age of 99. Taking it into account, BAFTA may pay the tribute to the memory of Prince Phillip and praise the series about his family’s life at the same time.
Who will win BAFTA in the lead acting nominations?
In 2021, BAFTA faced several new changes that touch upon acting nominations too. Thus, the number of nominees for the individual performance categories increased from 4 to 6. So, this year six actors and actresses will compete for the award in each acting category. Let’s look at lead males first.
- Josh O’Connor – The Crown
- Shaun Parkes – Small Axe
- John Boyega – Small Axe
- Paul Mescal – Normal People
- Paapa Essiedu – I May Destroy You
- Waleed Zuaiter – Baghdad Central
According to BAFTA TV winner predictions, John Boyega and Josh O’Connor have equal chances of winning at FanTeam. The Crown star has a small advantage as O’Connor has won the Golden Globe for his performance earlier this year. However, Boyega won the same award as a supporting actor, so the competition between two actors will be pretty tough.
As of female leading actresses, here is a full list of nominees for BAFTA TV 2021:
- Hayley Squires – Adult Material
- Jodie Comer – Killing Eve
- Billie Piper – I Hate Suzie
- Letitia Wright – Small Axe
- Daisy Edgar-Jones – Normal People
- Michaela Coel – I May Destroy You
As of now, online sportsbooks in the UK predict Jodie Comer to win, Her performance in Killing Eve has been receiving accolades since the moment of its release in 2018. Notably, Comer was the only actress from the list who got a nomination for this year’s Golden Globes but lost to Emma Corrin.
BAFTA TV winner predictions: supporting cast

- Rupert Everett – Adult Material
- Kunal Nayyar – Criminal: UK
- Tobias Menzies – The Crown
- Michael Sheen – Quiz
According to online gambling sites in the UK, Rupert Everett and Tobias Menzies are the main favorites to win the BAFTA TV award. Everett finally received his first-ever BAFTA TV nomination, so has good chances to win. However, Menzies can be rewarded for portraying Prince Phillip in The Crown.
