Part of the shlick of being 007, the cool and sauve secret agent, is a life consisting of a mix of mystery and luxury. So its only fitting that Bond should frequent the world's most glamourous casinos. In movie-land, being able to play and win cards or roulette is seen as a skill rather than games of luck. It's all part of the mystique of the handsome leading man and also helps drive the narrative of Bond being a winner of all things.

In an age where everything revolves around the visual image, books have taken a secon place when it comes to wriiten media. Yet still the vast majority of movies begin their lives as best-selling books. In many ways, we prefer books as they let the reader's imagination construct a visual story, as opposed to a movie which is just the vision of the director. The same goes for movies about gambling and the world of casino games.
