Gambling in Senegal is legal under several laws. The central law within the Senegalese gambling legislation is the Decret n° 2004-1252 of 17 September 2004 (Decret n° 2004-1252 du 17 septembre 2004) together with its amendments. According to this law all gambling games are legal in the country including several forms of online gambling in Senegal. However the gambling market in the country is highly monopolized with the  national lottery having special authorization to exclusively operate much of the gambling sector in Senegal, primarily the sports betting, which is by far the most popular form of game of chance played in the country. It is important to mention that only the products offered by the national lottery fall within the category of legal games. Senegal as a predominantly Muslim country which has formally prohibited gambling allows only for the exception of the games of the national lottery. The body responsible for regulation of the gambling activities in the country is the Senegalese Gambling Commission (Commission des Jeux du Sénégal). According to Senegalese gambling laws, licenses for providing any of the gambling games supervised by the same body.
