French Open 2023 Women’s Predictions: Winning the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen
As we draw closer to the opening fixture of the French Open, there are several players that should be considered as serious contenders to win the tournament. According to online sportsbook news in France, these players are the favourites to go all the way.
Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek is the defending French Open champion. She is the favourite to win the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen. Winning it would be her fourth Grand Slam triumph. She has previously won the French Open twice, in 2020 and 2022, and the US Open in 2022. At just 21 years of age, Swiatek is the outright favourite to win according to our French Open 2023 Women’s predictions. In 2022, she recorded a 37-match winning streak.
Ons Jabeur
Ons Jabeur is one of the favourites to win, if Swiatek does not do it. She has never won a Grand Slam but could change that in France. Last year, Jabeur reached the Wimbledon and US Open finals. She is currently 4th in the WTA Rankings and deserves a Grand Slam triumph above many other players. At 28 years of age, the French Open could be Jabeur’s best chance of winning her first Grand Slam.
Elena Rybakina
Elena Rybakina is a favourite to win the French Open this year. She has previously won a Grand Slam, so winning it would be her second triumph. At the 2022 Wimbledon competition, Rybakina won the tournament.
Born in Moscow, the tennis player chose to represent Kazakhstan instead of Russia. She will turn 24 just before the Wimbledon tournament starts. It means we could see the 23-year-old adding a second Grand Slam trophy to her collection before her 24th birthday.
Aryna Sabalenka
Aryna Sabalenka is a favourite to win the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen. The Belarusian won the Australian Open earlier this year. It was her first ever Grand Slam victory, defeating Rybakina in the final. She had lost the first set but managed to pull it back, winning the following two sets convincingly.
In addition to her Australian Open success, she had never reached a Grand Slam final. Her best runs were to semi-finals on three separate occasions. Sabalenka reached the US Open semi-finals in 2021 and 2022 and the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2022.
Coco Gauff
Coco Gauff is one of the youngest players at the French Open. She had reached the French Open final in 2022, but was defeated in straight sets by Swiatek. This year, she could win the French Open Grand Slam. It will be her first ever success, as she has not yet won a Grand Slam. However, it is more a question of when, rather than if. The young American has an abundance of talent and became professional in 2018, at the age of 14.
