French Open 2023 Predictions: Men’s Singles Tournament
As we draw closer to the opening fixture of the French Open, there are several players that should be considered as serious contenders to win the tournament. According to online sportsbook news in France, these players are the favourites to go all the way.
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic is the joint-first for Grand Slam successes, winning a total of 22 titles. He is on par with Rafael Nadal, who also has won 22 Grand Slams. The bookies back Djokovic as the outright favourite to win the tournament. However, his chances of winning it will definitely be altered, depending on the fitness of his nemesis, Rafael Nadal.
Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal is the defending champion of the French Open. He won his 22nd Grand Slam this time last year, winning a record 14th French Open. However, Nadal has faced several questions regarding his fitness. He has not played a match since January, when he was eliminated in the Round of 64 at the Australian Open. If Nadal competes and is physically fit, it is difficult to look beyond the Spaniard to win his 15th French Open.
Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz is one of the favourites alongside the two greats above. He won the US Open last year, becoming the youngest winner since Pete Sampras in 1990. Alcaraz has already played against both Nadal and Djokovic and defeated both of the living legends. Ending 2022 as the first in the men’s ATP Rankings, Alcaraz could cause a massive upset to both of the players. He had to withdraw from the Australian Open due to a hamstring injury, but if he is a peak physical form at the Roland Garros tournament, he could win his second Grand Slam at only 20 years of age.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas has not yet won a Grand Slam but could change that feat in France. He reached the French Open in 2021 but was defeated by Djokovic. Earlier this year, the Greek tennis player reached the Australian Open, only to be defeated by Djokovic again. It will be interesting to see if he has the mental strength to overcome this negative streak and win a Grand Slam final, if he reaches that stage of the tournament.
Casper Ruud
Casper Ruud is another player that could win his first ever Grand Slam at the French Open. He was last year’s runner-up, losing the final in straight sets to Nadal. He had also reached the US Open final, only to be defeated by Alcaraz. Our French Open 2023 predictions believe Ruud will have a successful campaign, but the bookies suggest he is not the favourite to win the competition.
French Open 2023 Predictions: How to Bet
The final of the French Open will be played on the 11th of June. The competition will start with 128 players. When betting on the French Open, you will have the choice of placing a variety of outright bets.
The most common one is betting on the French Open winner. It pays if you have successfully predicted the player to win the tournament. Other bets include the player to reach the final (regardless of whether they win or not) or the players to reach the semi-finals. Ultimately, as seen in our French Open 2023 predictions, there are a variety of bets you can place on the bookies favourite players to win.
