Gambling Laws in Lebanon

With the sole exception of land-based casinos, there is no legal gambling in Lebanon. In 1995 the government made an agreement that allows Casino du Liban a 30-year monopoly in the casino industry in the country. Beside the existence of this casino, the Lebanon Penal Code contains a general prohibition on gambling which does not have specific prohibitions on betting, or lotteries in particular. There are also no specific laws which prohibit online gambling in Lebanon. However, there are governmental restrictions on the use of credit cards and banks in regard of processing gambling transactions. A strict internet control over gambling websites is also at stake with many internationally renowned online gambling sites being blocked by authorities of the country.

Online Casinos in Lebanon

As of February 2019, the only casino in Lebanon is the Casino du Liban located in Maameltein. The Casino du Liban is owned by the Intra Investment Company, a Lebanese government-controlled company. Beside this there are no online casinos in Lebanon. Although there is an active blockage on any online gambling content, illegal access to internet casino sites  from Lebanon is frequently reported by many European online casino providers.

Online poker sites in Lebanon are not legal, as of February 2019. Although there are no specific Lebanese online poker laws, the general prohibition on gambling coming from the application of the Lebanese Penal Code holds for this game too.

Online DFS in Lebanon

There are no online DFS sites in Lebanon. Although the status of internet Daily Fantasy Sports is a frequent topic of discussion between lawmakers worldwide, it is plausible to suppose that this game, notwithstanding the status will also fall under the prohibition coming from the Lebanon Penal Code.
