It’s been a historically cold winter in Europe, and Paddy Power is now offering their members the chance to bet on the UK Cold Snap.

The UK and the rest of Europe is in the middle of an unprecedented cold snap. More than 20 people are already confirmed dead as a result of the icy weather, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

In parts of Russia, the temperature has lowered to -40C. Even Greece is suffering from the massive cold, as many of the nation’s islands are covered in snow, and temperatures have been reported at -15C in the north.

Now, Paddy Power is making UK gambling news by allowing their members to bet on the UK cold snap, and whether it will set records. There are two betting options, and both are offering great odds. Let’s take a closer look at this great novelty weather bet.

Will the UK cold snap set records?

The first bet you can make is whether this freezing winter will be the coldest January on record. Meteorologists in the country have stated a new cold front will hit Scotland and Northern Ireland on Wednesday, and the rest of the UK on Thursday, which will significantly lower temperatures. It remains to be seen if it will go so low as to be the lowest January in history, but Paddy Power lists the betting odds at 16/1.

The other bet on the UK cold snap you can make this month is if January will produce the lowest ever recorded temperature. At the moment, the record for coldest temperature in the UK is set at -27.2C. No one truly known just how much the weather will drop this month, though the odds that it will set the low record are set at 25/1.
