William Hill hires an external company to advance to other markets through social media platforms.
Renowned bookmaker William Hill, operating under British gambling laws, decided to hire an outside PR and social media firm to support its international expansion through social media.
One of the largest online sportsbooks in United Kingdom chose “Lexis – the recommendation agency”, a London based company, to help promote its brand in other markets as the bookie undergoes a rapid international expansion.
William Hill is planning to utilize social media and other internet platforms to help support its growth, and sees Lexis agency as the right partner to do so.
PR manager at William Hill, Kate Miller, told United Kingdom gambling news: “Social media have become more and more important with sports fans and others, as you can tell from the Olympics.”
She went on to add: “For example, Twitter is a recognized comms stream now, and for us it’s about working to make the best of the content we’re producing. The internet and social media allow us the opportunity to promote to other markets as we expand internationally, and tailor our content to various different marketplaces.”
The initial project will span over three months, and will be supported by Gareth Griffiths, senior associate director at Lexis. The new agreement is actually an extension of the collaboration between William Hill and Lexis on the Will Hill’s Greyhound Derby project, which started earlier this year.
It seems to be the latest trend, as more and more online gambling destinations are realizing the potential of social media platforms and launch various apps and projects to accommodate their customers’ preferences.
