The 2017 Tour de France betting favorites are now established. In this article we’ll break down each cyclists chances of winning.
On July 1st, the 2017 Tour de France will finally begin. Many of the world’s best cyclists will be taking part, and even the best betting experts are having a tough time predicting who will end the race on top.
The odds are now set by BetVictor, and cycling fans have a great opportunity to cash out this year. Let’s take a look at a few of the 2017 Tour de France betting favorites.
Chris Froome: 6/5
There’s no doubt that Chris Froome is the best cyclist in the world right now. He’s won the Tour de France 3 times over the past four years, and became the only man since Miguel Indurain in 1995 to defend the title after winning in both 2015 and 2016.
2017 Tour de France betting favorites
- Chris Froome: 6/5
- Richie Porte: 7/4
- Nairo Quintana: 6/1
- Jakob Fuglsang: 10/1
- Fabio Aru: 10/1
Froome is a current member of UCI ProTeam Team Sky in the general classification category. Though he’s older than many of his competitors at 32 years of age, he’s showing no signs of slowing down and holds the highest odds to win the Tour de France this year according to almost all online sportsbooks in the UK.
A third-straight Tour de France victory would make Froome a legend in cycling. At the moment, his odds to win are set at 6/5.
Richie Porte: 7/4
BMC Racing Team members Richie Porte may not have the same number of high-profile wins that Chris Froome has, but he’s proven himself to be one of the top cyclists competing right now with a pair of wins at the 2017 Tour Down Under and Tour de Romandie.
Somewhat surprisingly, 2017 will actually be only the second time Porte has competed at the Tour de France. His success so far this year has made him a 2017 Tour de France betting favorite, and if he can earn the victory this July it will be just the second time in history that an Australian cyclist has won.
Just a few days from the competition beginning, Porte’s odds to win the Tour de France are set at 7/4, according to BetVictor.
Nairo Quintana: 6/1
Of all the 2017 Tour de France betting favorites, Nairo Quintana may have the most unique skill set. The Colombian climber is known for his incredible ability to push past opponents on steep ascents. He’s far from a one-trick pony however, with impressive results in time trials as well, making his one of the best riders in the general classification of major Tours.
Quintana only made the move to Europe to race professionally in 2012, and now has a real shot at making UK gambling news by becoming the first Colombian (and South American) to ever win the Tour de France.
Nairo has already taken first place in two major Tours this year, and took second at the Giro d’Italia. At the moment, Quintana’s odds to win the Tour de France are set at 6/1. Of all the riders listed here, this South American talent may offer the best chance to make money betting on the Tour de France this year.
