Could John Cena’s proposal signal an end to his time in the WWE? Here we discuss what’s next for him, and the betting lines for the upcoming Royal Rumble.
On April 2nd, WrestleMania 33 took place in Orlando, Florida in front of more than 75,000 people. During this show, Roman Reigns made WWE news by defeating The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar captured the WWE Universal Championship by beating Goldberg, and Randy Orton won his ninth WWE Championship with a win over Bray Wyatt.
Upcoming WWE PPV events
- Payback – April 30th
- Backlash – May 21st
- Extreme Rules – June 4th
- Money in the Bank – June 18th
- Bad Blood – July 9th
It was an event full of surprises, but perhaps the most newsworthy part of the evening was John Cena’s proposal to longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella. Cena asked the question shortly after he and Bella made UK gambling news by winning the mixed tag team match, generating cheers of approval from the audience.
It’s these unexpected moments we’ve come to love about watching the WWE, but not long after the show fans began wondering whether John Cena’s proposal could mean an end to his time in the ring. According to Cena himself, he’s far from walking into the sunset.
“I am far from retiring, I feel like I am at my physical best,” he recently told Sky Sports. “A lot of folks in the WWE say that maybe I am past my prime and have lost a step and that creates a giant chip on [my] shoulder.” There you have it. Don’t expect John Cena’s proposal affecting his career anytime soon.
Looking where to bet on the WWE?
We at GamingZion covered in a separate article the possibilities to bet on WWE events. It’s somewhat of a gray area in the sports betting world, as WWE matches are known to be pre-determined. Nonetheless, a number of great online sportsbooks in the UK offer betting lines for the matches.
At the moment, Paddy Power already lists the betting odds for the 2018 Royal Rumble. Yes, we know that’s quite a ways in the future, but it shouldn’t stop you from picking who wins. At the moment, Roman Reigns is the outright winner betting favorite with odds of 2/1. Betting on John Cena is also a solid option with odds of 8/1. Want to go with a WWE betting underdog? Consider betting on Conor McGregor in the WWE, as his odds to win Royal Rumble are set at 66/1.
WWE fans can take a sigh of relief knowing John Cena’s proposal will not affect his time in the WWE. He’s still in his athletic prime, and likely has years of competition left in him.
