The world’s most famous sports gambler just set a new record for the biggest wager in sports history by betting $1 million on Miesha Tate.
Dave Oancea clearly has faith in Miesha Tate’s abilities. Last March, Dave made US gambling news by betting $77,000 on Tate to beat Holly Holm. Tate won, and Dave cashed out with $223,300. It has now been reported that Vegas Dave is picking Tate to win again in July, betting $1 million in what he calls the biggest wager in sports history.
Most online sportsbooks in the US have Tate as a big favorite to win. Her win was extended to five straight after the win over Holm, and her confidence has never been higher. She faces a tough fighter in Amanda Nunes, who is riding a three fight win streak of her own with victories over Sara McMann and Valentina Shevchenko.
Vegas Dave has a History of Predicting UFC Fights
The MMA world was first exposed to Vegas Dave after reports surfaced that the gambler had bet $20,000 on Holly Holm to upset Ronda Rousey. He won $240,000 on that fight, and has made significant wagers on a number of big fights since. Vegas Dave has also correctly predicted fights such as Rockhold/Bisping, and McGregor/Aldo.
Dave is claiming his bet on Tate is the biggest wager in sports history on paper, and he might be right. As a -250 favorite, a Tate victory would earn Vegas Dave approximately $400,000. The historic UFC 200 is now less than three weeks away, and the anticipation for a fight card has never been higher.
