Online betting comes to New York state racetrack pending an approval from industry Boards.
One of the first online sportsbooks in United States besides Nevada could be soon operating in the state of New York. The Batavia Downs racing track owned by Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp (WROTB) is about to start operating online betting.
The race track will be offering online betting in full compliance with American gambling laws once the approvals from the State Wagering and Racing Boards come through.
The service will become a first-time collaboration in the State and will see WROTB partner up with Saratoga Casino and Raceway as well as eBet Technologies LLC. Together the companies will introduce a safe advance deposit online betting platform – Batavia Bets.
The service at Batavia Bets will be completely free and will allow punters, who decide to create an account, to place bets on pari-mutuel events through the internet and telephone. The service will primarily focus on local residents, guests of Batavia Downs and the whole of WROTB network.
Jamie Hartman, executive vice president of Saratoga Casino and Raceway, told United States gambling news: “We have experienced great success with saratogabets, our advance deposit wagering platform. We’re thrilled to collaborate with eBet and Batavia Downs to institute this exciting wagering option in western New York and to further promote increased support and interest in New York racing.”
Mark Gregory, chairman of eBet, also commented the deal: “We are excited to work with an organization like Batavia Downs to extend their brand while maintaining access and control of their customer base. We’re focused on delivering new channels and incremental revenues for regional racetracks like Batavia.”
