Your FA Cup SF predictions and betting previews are here
As the oldest and one of the most popular national football competitions in the world, the FA Cup represents a big role in English football. While the Premier League might draw in more international coverage and popularity, the FA Cup is where all of England stands behind one competition. After all, instead of 16-20 teams, there are over 700 here. We’re almost at the end, however, as only the semi-finals and finals remain. In this article, we will be mainly focusing on FA Cup SF predictions. Only Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Crystal Palace remain after months of competing. It looks like the title will go to a Premier League club once again. So without prolonging the inevitable, here are the predictions and betting previews for these two matches.
The FA Cup is the oldest national football competition not just in England but the whole world. The competition was founded 151 years ago and hundreds of clubs compete in it each year. Winning the competition grants a qualification for the UEFA Europa League and the FA Community Shield. The latter is played annually between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup. You’re here for predictions so we’re not going to get into how complex this competition is. While clubs from smaller leagues have little chance to win against the Premier League giants, it can happen, as it has happened so many times. True, all four of the remaining teams in the competition are from the Premier League but you know what we mean. Most of the remaining teams play more for the honour and prizes than for qualification to the Europa League.
The Battle Between City and Liverpool Rages On
It looks like the battle between these English giants continues even in the FA Cup. Both clubs are still in competition for some of the biggest trophies in the world. The Premier League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup. Funny enough, their chances are nearly identical in all of these competitions. What fans should be more concerned about are their recent matches. Man City drew and lost one out of their last five matches, while Liverpool won all five. Of course, this only applies to their Premier League matches. If we look at recent FA Cup titles, City beats Liverpool on the topic. Their most recent title comes from the 2018/2019 season while the Reds haven’t seen the trophy since 2006. We should all appreciate this rivalry, however. Two clubs with great managers and a squad that compete for everything that matters.
Let’s look at the plain full-time odds for the semi-final match on April 16. According to 888sport Manchester City has the edge over Liverpool with 5/4 (44.4%). The Reds were given odds of 2/1 (33.3) to win the match. A draw is also very likely to happen with 13/5 (27.8%). This is what a £100 bet would return if you placed it on City, a draw, or Liverpool: £225, £360, £300. Both clubs are in great form and these odds are also susceptible to change. The main factor in those changes will no doubt be the April 10 Premier League matchup between these two. Everyone is eager to see the best of the best face off against each other. Whoever comes out on top after April 16, will most likely be the favourite to win the FA Cup final as well.
Crystal Palace Can Make History But The FA Cup SF Predictions Favour Chelsea
Just like City and Liverpool, Chelsea is still in competition for the Premier League title, UCL, and FA Cup. Although most online gambling sites in the UK think that their league title race is in a dire situation. As an 8-time FA Cup champion, most recently in the 2017/2018 season, Chelsea has hardly anything to prove here. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, could appreciate the title more and the Europa League position that comes with it. They’ve never won the cup before so the feat could prove equally impressive and important. Even though they’re currently only in 12th place on the Premier League table, their recent performance is not bad. Palace beat Everton 4-0 in the quarter-finals and managed to draw with Manchester City 0-0 a bit more than two weeks ago. However, they lost against Chelsea back in February in a 1-0 match.
One could only think that Chelsea has bigger problems on their hands now than their Crystal Palace match on April 17. As the UCL title holders, they have a lot of doubters this season. Here’s the betting preview for the Champions League quarter-finals in case you’re interested. Also, let’s not forget the FA Cup SF predictions for the Chelsea-Palace match either. The Blues are expected to win with odds of 8/15 (65.2%) to no one’s surprise. Crystal Palace has odds of 51/10 (16.4%) to win and a draw isn’t unlikely either with 31/10 (24.4%). Additionally, here’s the £100 return on a successful Chelsea, draw, or Palace bet £153.30, £410, £610. Many people love to support the underdog, especially in the famous “giant-killer” matches of the FA Cup. And who knows, Palace might repeat Chelsea’s FA Cup-Europa League wins from a few seasons ago.
