We reached a historic moment in our era of musical culture. Marshall Matther II, or better known as Eminem has been using his Slim Shady persona for over a decade. It caused riots and rages, yet he just kept winning awards he did not even intend to take. While struggling with substance abuse, Eminem found creativity in his rather dark and controversial Slim Shady persona. After attending rehab, his transformation from Slim Shady to Eminem revealed his human side.

Yet, a part of the fanbase wanted Slim Shady’s clever flow back. Thus, Eminem gave us one more chapter to close down the era of controversy. It is the Death of Slim Shady, and we are here with our The Death of Slim Shady review, giving you an insight into the album, and its chances at the musical award. The Death of Slim Shady Review

After our The Death of Slim Shady release info, let us introduce you to our review. First of all, we wish to highlight that many people will fail to recognize the genius storytelling of Eminem. During the half of the album, we are already through The Death of Slim Shady. However, he closes that era by revisiting old songs, giving them a reflective alternative. The album starts with the birth of Slim Shady, going through his struggle with substance abuse. And then, the protagonist, Eminem, defeats his ego in a typical comic style.

The album ends with Eminem’s reflection on the life of Slim Shady, and he ends the album with a final apology from his daughter. This narrative elevates the cultural value of the album, but we understand that many award ceremonies and critics will not recognize or care for this. Therefore, we might know something valuable for Bovada Sportsbook’s entertainment betting market section.

Guess Who's Back!

Track List

Before we provide you with The Death of Slim Shady review, let’s take a look at the tracklist. According to the BBC, the reception for Eminem’s album shows mixed results. Some highlight his fan-pleasing style which truly returned to the character he assumed 15 years ago. On the other hand, the album lacked the substance it promised. There is no catharsis for Slim Shady’s end, nor can we truly catch the moment for the Coup de Grâce. The tracks are the following:

  1. Renaissance
  2. Habits (Ft. White Gold)
  3. Trouble
  4. Brand New Dance
  5. Evil
  6. All You Got (skit)
  7. Lucifer (Ft. Sly Pyper)
  8. Antichrist (Ft. Bizarre)
  9. Fuel (Ft. JID)
  10. Road Rage
  11. Houdini
  12. Breaking News (skit)

  18. Guess Who’s Back (skit)
  19. Somebody Save Me (Ft. Jelly Roll)
  • Bonus: Kyrie & Luka (Ft. 2 Chainz)

It is a good album, but we might have expected a little more.

The Skits – The Death of Slim Shady Review

The best and worst songs on The Death of Slim Shady show what part of Eminem is singing. According to Billboard, the worst songs areLucifer”,Evil”, andRoad Rage”. These songs are mostly talking about his struggle with becoming a better person after so many years of substance abuse and describing where the substance of Slim Shady is.

Road Rage is just pretty much a clever fat-shaming that seeks to comment on the new American mindset of accepting people. – This weird phase is transformed into the best songs,Temporary”,Fuel”, andSomebody Save Me”. The skits are story-leading connectors, and they work! The list of skits is the following:

  • Part 1: Renaissance – Evil: Describes the rebirth of Slim Shady, the evil character, and explains Eminem’s substance abuse lore in a comic-villain style.
  • Skit 1 (All You Got): Eminem asks Slim Shady why he is haunting him
  • Part 2: Lucifer – Houdini: The fight between Eminem and Slim is shady. A back and forth between the two, working together to reach the top.
  • Skit 2:(Breaking News): Shows how the citizen learned that Eminem is trying to cancel himself in the fight against Slim Shady, and they both receive attention.
  • Part 3: Guilty Conscience 2: Going back to the title that was the birth of Slim Shady, the Guilty Conscience. The final blow to Slim Shady.
  • Part 4: Head Honcho – Tobey – After defeating Slim Shady, Eminem writes out of his heart, and also features rappers.
  • Skit 3 (Guess Who’s Back): A callback to the first Ken Kaniff skit, humorously playing the character in the album’s theme.
  • Somebody Save Me: Final song, he apologizes to his daughters for being a bad father.
  • Bonus tracks: Some amazing songs with great features.

The Death of Slim Shady

What About The Features?

The features are fine on the album. According to the Independent, the album did not live up to the hype we expected, and we feel the same way somewhat. This was supposed to be the cathartic end of Slim Shady. And while we got some sort of blunt story, it is not clear what’s coming next. It feels like a movie only Stans can understand, and less like a performance album with a clear and anticipated story.

It somehow makes sense, yet it isn’t what we wanted. We expected a feature with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, records of Proof’s lines, and anyone who was involved in the development of Slim Shady. Yet, we got nothing like this. The Death of Slim Shady review is increased by the JID feature, but everyone else was just good. Nothing brilliant that truly evokes the Slim Shady energy. We think this album should have been with OGs, making a new album forSomebody Save Meas the new Eminem.

Our Score – The Death of Slim Shady Review

Everything said and done, it is time for us to give our score for Eminem’s album. It is important, so you may have a tip to bet on the Triple J Hottest 100 in 2024. Let’s start with the video clips, marketing, and presentation. A strong point of the album with the teasers. It deserves an 8/10. Onto the songs, we believe it was truly a mixed bag of everything. Somewhere it was a nothing sandwich, while on other parts it deserves to be preserved in history.

Thus, we are keeping a solid 7/10 on the songs. The features were underwhelming, and only the JID feat saved it, which is a 6/10. The narrative and story are a rough 8/10, it was a little stretched and diluted with tears and emotions, while we expected destructive chaos with a sound catharsis. All in all, this album is a very strong 7.5/10. Will it beat Billie Eilish? Maybe, but we doubt so.

What's next for Eminem for 2025?
