TCA 2020 winner predictions are out. Numerous TV series will compete for prizes in 11 Television Critics Association Awards nominations, including Outstanding New Program. Here are all nominees aiming for the award with the most updated odds and predictions.

The 2020 Television Critics Association Awards is the 36th edition of one of the most prestigious TV award ceremonies in North America. Since 1985, more than 200 American and Canadian movie critics and journalists have chosen the best programs on television. This year, the ceremony will be held online – the date is to be announced later.

In 2020, three dozen TV projects got nominations in 11 TCA categories. Watchmen and Unbelievable are the favorites with 4 nominations each. Based on Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV, the series follows the sharpest topics in the 21st century: sexual harassment, media power, privacy v publicity. Two hosts of the fictional Morning Show (Aniston and Witherspoon’s characters) are opposites who represent two different ways of hosting the TV show. The series got 8.4/10 at IMDB, but just 61% fresh reviews at Rotten Tomatoes. The latter placed The Morning Show in third place in the TCA award race. The Mandalorian

One of the main breakthroughs of 2019-2020 is a runner-up to win in the Outstanding New Program nomination. The Mandalorian is the first live-action series in the Star Wars franchise that takes place between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. According to the plot, a warrior Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) travels far from the New Republic. 

Starring Pascal aka Oberyn Martell from GOT and a cute Baby Yoda, the series has quickly won the viewers’ hearts. The Mandalorian got 8.7/10 at IMDB as well as positive critic reviews – 93% at Rotten Tomatoes. The majority of Star Wars fans called the series far better than the last trilogy. Will it help the show to win the TCA? We will see, but the odds of 3.76 say that is is more than possible.

Watchmen

An American superhero drama by HBO is based on the same-name DC comics but is slightly different from it and the 2009 movie. Although the TV series is based on the 1986 story, it shows the sharpest modern problems like racism and racial prejudice. The series has been critically acclaimed and earned 95% fresh reviews at Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the viewers being less excited about Watchmen (8.1/10) than The Mandalorian or The Morning Show, TCA is a critics award.
