Suspended Members of the National Gambling Board Plead Innocence

Following widespread rumors of cases involving wrongdoing by the South African Gambling Board, former members now take a defensive stance on their supposed actions.
Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies is preparing to give a detailed reports to MPs as to the real reason behind the suspension of the Gambling Board members, gambling news reports. The Trade and Industry Portfolio Committee is expected to investigate the circumstances behind the alleged actions of wrongdoing.
Some reports say that the members were involved in shredding of documents and spending too much money on overseas trips by the respective members. Davies took action two months ago by initially suspending the board members and then had them and the association investigated by two administrators who were also tasked with running the organization.
The reputation of the institution has suffered
Former chairwoman of the board, Linda de Vries, commented on how her and the other members who were accused of wrongdoing were obliged to defend themselves against allegations that tarnished their reputations. The rumors “have cast the National Gambling Board in a very unfavorable light” that jeopardized the reputation of their mission.
She also highlighted that Mr. Davies and committee chairwoman Joan Fubbs refused to join them in a meeting to discuss the issue at hand, according to mobile betting news. “We believe that the minister’s suspension of the National Gambling Board was hasty and unreasonable and that it has damaged the reputation of current and former members.”
