FIS Ladies Alpine Ski World Cup continues this weekend in St Moritz
-
Two Super-G races will be held in the famous Swiss resort

Italian Brignone and Swiss Suter are the biggest favorites
The 2020-21 Ladies FIS Alpine Ski World Cup will continue this weekend in Switzerland with two Super-G races. So far Slovakian Petra Vlhova has been skiing in top form and won the last three races. But she is not in the top favorites of the St Moritz Women’s Super-G odds unlike defending overall champion Federica Brignone.
The famous resort of St Moritz has hosted the Alpine Ski World Championships five times already. Since 1998 it has also been organizing the Ladies Alpine Ski World Cup every year. This year two Super-G races will take place on the course of Engiadina on Corviglia where most of the big favorites will compete. But the 3-time overall World Cup champion Mikaela Shiffrin will miss the event due to little training in the speed events. We can still see several top skiers from last year’s overall champion Federica Brignone to current leader Petra Vlhova.
St Moritz Women’s Super-G odds predict tight race between the top favorites
Online sportsbooks in Switzerland offer very similar odds for the biggest favorites of the race this weekend. Italian Federica Brignone has the smallest, 4.00 to win. But her big rival, local favorite Corinne Suter follows her tightly with the odds of 5.00. Brignone finished second in the Super-G World Cup last season and in the first race of the season as well in Solden. She was also second last year in St Moritz after finishing behind her countrywoman, Sofia Goggia.
Now she can try to get the victory here, just like Suter who won the Super-G World Cup last year. But the Swiss skier is not in her best form yet, as she couldn’t even qualify for the first race in Austria. Then she missed the next two races in slalom and the last race in Lech as well. But now she has the opportunity to perform on home soil and start to collect points in the World Cup.
Current overall leader can continue her great series
Slovakian Petra Vhlova is currently leading the overall world cup after winning three out of four races so far. She performed well last season as well and finished 3rd in the Overall, 2nd in Giant Slalom and won the Slalom World Cup. But now Vhlova seems to get even better and can be one of the biggest challengers of Brignone and Shiffrin. She won the parallel slalom race in St Moritz last year but didn’t compete in the Super-G. She will do now but she is not in the favorites in the St Moritz Women’s Super-G odds.
Unlike last year’s winner, Sofia Goggia who has the odds of 6.00 to win again. The Olympic champion in downhill is also good at Super-G where she has three World Cup wins so far. This season her best result is a 6th-place finish in Giant Slalom in Solden. We shall see if she can improve on this in St Moritz. Online gambling sites in Switzerland also mention another local favorite, Lara Gut with a chance of winning. She won the Super-G world cup title in 2014 and 2016, while she finished 6th last season. Gut got the bronze medal in the last race in Lech which might be a good sign for the Swiss fans.
