Sri Lankan was a victim of a massive heart attack, which led to his death after he lost $300 bet that India would be the winner at the cricket T20 WC tournament.
SP Kumara placed his bet that the Indian cricket team will win over Sri Lanka on Sunday last week and his tragic death made it into the gambling news in the country.
Tragic bet
The local police commented: “He had gone to a bookmaker at Gampaha and placed a fairly large bet on an Indian win and watched the match from there. When Sri Lanka won the match, he could not believe it.”
The gambler placed his bet according to Sri Lanka gambling laws but for the second time chose the wrong team.
After the end of the game, he collapsed and the admission to a hospital in Gampaha didn’t help and he was declared dead soon after.
The official information on the case is that the unfortunate player was not sick, therefore the most probable reason for the heart attack was the shock of losing the bet.
