If you think Seattle Seahawks were the biggest winners in the Sunday’s Super Bowl, think again.
Land-based and online sportsbooks in the United States located in Nevada have cashed in big on the Sunday’s Super Bowl. The total betting figures are not in yet, but Nevada bookies already report record-breaking amount of bets this year, as much as 20 percent more than the last time around.
Who has really wont the Super Bowl XLVIII?
Seattle Seahawks may have crushed Denver Broncos on the field, contrary to all expectations, and certainly against all odds at the bookies. But the real winners are sportsbooks of course. The bookies have made around $20 million on the Super Bowl betting under American gambling laws.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that sportsbooks have reached a cumulative profit of around 16.5 percent. This makes the Super Bowl XLVIII the biggest profit maker for them since Eagles lost to Patriots back in Super Bowl XXXIX.
Another record is the $119.4 million wagered in total on the Sunday’s game at Nevada sportsbooks alone. This figure is a 20.7 percent increase year-on-year, beating the previous record of $98.9 million.
