This weekend, Formula 1 is coming to Spain. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the next race of the ongoing season, which is scheduled to take place on June 4th. To see who is going to win one of the oldest races, check out our Spanish Grand Prix predictions 2023. In addition, we will briefly cover the results of the past competition in Monaco and reveal the best odds on the next winner in our overview. So, who is going to win, according to online gambling sites in Spain?
Getting Ready for the Spanish GP: How Did the Last Race Finish?
The Monaco race was marked with yet another Red Bull & Max Verstappen win. The Dutch drove the race incredibly well, making just one mistake in Portier, when the track started to be unsuitable for dry tires. Other than that, Max was undeniably the best driver on the track, even under changing conditions. However, the winner could have been different under other circumstances. For example, if Aston Martin fit intermediate tires on Fernando Alonso’s car the first time he visited the pits. Why they fit another set of slicks is a question that is going to haunt many F1 fans this year if Aston Martin never manage to take a race win this season, because counting delta time lost in the pit lane and changing conditions, if Aston Martin did fit intermediate tires upon Alonso’s first pit visit, it is most likely he would take the lead and win.
As we have predicted in our online betting tips, Mercedes are getting better and better. Although their new sidepods did not show their effectiveness, it is expected to bring good results in Spain. Also, they got lucky with Ferrari yet again bottling their strategy. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were nowhere near being close to third before in started raining – it was Carlos Sainz chasing third-placed Esteban Ocon, but after Ferrari failed to call their drivers to the pits when it had to be done.
Carlos got thrown all the way to eighth behind Pierre Gasly’s Alpine.
We also have to point out a great weekend for Alpine. Ocon got a well-deserved third place and Gasly finished seventh. Judging by the performance of the top-4 teams, Alpine’s goal this season is realistically fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship, which is one place lower than in 2022. The problem is not that their performance dwindled, but Aston Martin’s impressive rise to the rank of a top team.
Spanish Grand Prix Predictions 2023: Best Odds on Favorites
The Spanish Grand Prix will be held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which has been infamous for uneventful races over the recent years. Subjectively, the last fun event at that track happened in 2016 when two Mercedes collided on the first lap.
Qualifying is very important as well as tire wear. Red Bull and Aston Martin have been very competitive on such tracks this year, while Ferrari has been one of the weakest teams on the grid. It is hard to see where Mercedes are going to end up. However, if their upgrades work, they can become the second team on the grid and even end up on the podium. Most online sportsbooks in Spain have doubts, but we assume that such a turn of events is possible. Surely, Max Verstappen is everyone’s favorite, but he is not the only one. Fernando Alonso has a home turf advantage and surely will fight the leaders as hard as possible, so he is also a podium contender.
