GA to Issue Six New Casino Licenses in Botswana

In order to provide regulated and fair gambling opportunities to citizens, the Gambling Authority will issue six more casino licenses in Botswana.

2017 will see the Botswana Gambling Authority issue six casino licenses to strengthen the regulated gambling market and provide fair gaming to citizens. Currently, there are eight licensed casino operators in Botswana. The new applicants will have to be prepared for a strict screening process. “As a board we will look at the request form applications of how they will operate technologies they are going to employ and the number of personnel they are going to hire,” said Thulisizwe Johnson, the CEO of the Botswana Gambling Authority. The licenses are valid for ten years with the option of renewal. On top of the casino licenses, the Authority will issue a lottery license for the first time.
