In efforts to discover all the relevant effects that internet gambling may have in New Jersey, a prestigious university is preparing to make a study of the matter.
The Center for Gambling Studies at the popular Rutgers University School of Social Work is planning to embark on exploring the effects of mobile betting in the state of New Jersey. The university has been afforded a staggering $1.3 million to investigate all the important details pertaining to online gambling in the state, a business that initiated 11 months ago.
The survey is set to commence in January and is expected to produce comprehensive results once the study finalizes. Funding for the extensive research has been provided by New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement and the state’s health department.
A large survey sample will be investigated
Gambling news reports the survey will involve 1,500 adult New Jersey residents interviewed by phone and 2,000 surveyed online. Professor and director of the Center who also acts as the main investigator on the unique grant, Dr. Lia Nower, highlighted that people aren’t fully aware of all the aspects and is honored to be part of a team that can warn people about that.
“New Jersey is one of only three states where Internet gambling is legal. But iGaming is a new frontier and no one knows quite what to expect. It’s a real testament to the governor and the division that they’re taking such a responsible approach to evaluating potential negative impacts, and we are really honored to be a part of it.”
