PokerStars LIVE Manila offers cash games and tournaments at 14 tables in the newly opened integrated resort.
A new live poker room has been launched at the City of Dreams Manila, the new integrated land-based and mobile casino resort. The PokerStars Live Manila resort is set to become the first-class leisure and entertainment centre in the Philippines.
Similar to the one in Macau, PokerStars Live is the 2nd live poker room operating in Asia under PokerStars. The operations started with a sneak preview given on December 14 and now the $1.3-billion City of Dreams will have its grand opening before the Chinese New Year in 2015.
PokerStars prides itself on its popular online poker sites in the Philippines and also serves the wider poker community globally. Similar to what the Manila poker room offers, PokerStars hosts more daily tournaments than anywhere else in the world and credits itself with the best security online.
The casino will accomodate PokerStars’ expandable room
Danny McDonagh, PokerStars’ Director of Live Operations for Asia-Pacific, said that “Our relationship with City of Dreams has been nothing short of amazing in our poker room in Macau. I have the utmost confidence that our continued collaboration in Manila will take poker in the Philippines to new heights”.
The new poker room was built by Macau-based Melco Crown Entertainment and Henry Sy-led Belle Corp. It offers, under Philippines gambling laws, a wide array of poker tournaments and poker cash games. The 14 permanent tables, which may be expanded for special events, is located on Level 2 of the casino floor.
Other special events such as the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila Poker Festival will also be held in the new live poker room. So far tournaments are now on the whole weekend, starting on Fridays and a variety of special events are scheduled to be underway come 2015.
