Despite being one of the biggest names in poker, Gus Hansen suffers immense losses in the virtual edition of the card game.
He might have lost his magic touch that once used to get him headlines for amassing highly lucrative wins, as total losses up to now count slightly under the $20 million mark. The Great Dane, as he is commonly known, has been playing Full Tilt for the past seven years where he hasn’t managed to convert his misfortune and record a profit.
Gambling news estimate that he has played around 1.5 million hands throughout the duration of his online poker pursuits, a figure that reflects just how deeply dedicated he is to the game. However, the biggest chunk of the misfortune came in the past 21 months, where he suffered a loss of nearly $17 million.
Hansen hasn’t been very present at live tournaments in recent times
Hansen regularly competes online against industry big shots like Phil Ivey, Daniel Cates and Patrick Antonius, who are all among the most highly regarded poker players. Despite experiencing a struggle with his online game, the Great Dane has been successful in many US poker rooms and live tournaments, taking in over $11.26 million since 2002.
However, for the past two years he hasn’t been quite as present at live tournament events. This time period somewhat corresponds to the immense losses he has been having with the online poker arena throughout the past 21 months.
