One of the biggest names in the internet game, PKR, opened its online poker site in France on Friday, the latest big name to be doing business there after winning a license from the government under the recently enacted French gambling laws.
Though PKR had reportedly received a license almost two months ago, developers there took time to develop and prepare marketing for a uniquely France-based offering. In addition to a total range of French-language services, PKR also secured two names from the French poker world to serve as “brand ambassadors” for PKR France: World Series of Poker Main Event veterans Adrien “zlatan35” Allain and Marc “waswini” Bariller.
PKR naturally provides a full range of their thousands of tournaments and Sit & Go games on PKR France; company president Jean-Pierre Houareau told local media that “We’re delighted to be able to welcome French players to PKR.fr where they can enjoy playing on our unique software.”
PKR has also announced that the website will essentially be unaccessible outside of France’s borders.
While the new French gambling laws are under fire with some operators, particularly in the area of exorbitant tax rates on foreign operators, the consensus of legal operators in the country is generally extremely positive with good results shown by must licensed firms since laws were liberalized before the FIFA World Cup.
