Internet gambling corporations GVC Holdings PLC and Boss Media are fighting over law within both Sweden and Malta legal systems.
Online gambling site operator Gaming VC Holdings PLC (GVC) is using the legal system to fight internet gambling software developer Boss Media Corporation within both Sweden and Malta. In a trading update covering the time between October 1st 2010 and December 15th 2010, GVC informed that the online gambling site will continue its lawsuit against Boss Media. GVC claims that Boss Media breached confidentiality.
A court hearing was held in Malta on December 2nd 2010, but Boss Media also launched arbitration against GVC Corporation in Sweden, perhaps hoping Swedish gambling laws will prove more favorable towards their case than Maltese gambling laws. GVC Holdings claimed in court that these two actions are entirely distinct and must not be perceived as the identical.
Although the Maltese authorities confirmed this, the court has allowed Boss Media to present additional proof towards jurisdictional issues until January 25th 2011. Hearings on this issue have been adjourned until February 24th 2011. Meanwhile, oral submissions are expected in Sweden on either June 20th or 21st 2011.
The portfolio of GVC Holdings includes both online casinos in Sweden and online poker sites in Sweden. Boss Media develops electronic gambling software for internet casinos, poker rooms, bingo halls, and sports books. Boss Media is a subsidiary to GTech G2, the interactive division of GTech, part of the Lottomatica Group.
