With the NHL set to embark on another season, the Boston Bruins have been earmarked as the prime candidates for the top of the power rankings by Odds Shark.
The National Hockey League commences on Wednesday (October 8th), and all of the teams have already been assigned rankings on various sports charts. One of the experts when it comes to mobile betting info and other similar pursuits is Odds Shark. They have identified the Boston Bruins to lead the pack and claim the number one spot ahead of 29 other teams.
There are other potential teams that could have topped the power rankings list, however Odds Shark has given the best chances to the Bruins mainly because they use winning bets as a measurement for success. Online gaming and betting site Bovada has given Boston point total for the whole season of 112.5, which is more than any other team received.
Bruins maintain a formidable team despite some areas of concern
• Odds Shark ranks the Bruins first in power rankings due to recent success
• Chicago Blackhawks have to settle for second place
• Pittsburg Penguins sit in third place with predicted 105.5 overall points
Due to their successful exploits in 2014 where they finished first overall, the Boston Bruins were bumped to the top of the rankings line. However, the team was not successful in utilizing some of their players as Dennis Seidenberg got injured and could not be called up, while newcomer Loui Eriksson didn’t manage to assert himself as previously anticipated.
Some questions were even raised that they lack a certain depth when it comes to their offensive area on the third line, which is important to make incisive playoff runs. Currently, many sporting experts believe that they don’t have the respective capacity in that area, however the Bruins are still capable of recording wins against Eastern Conference opposition.
Teams like Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are all among the Eastern Conference sides that the Bruins can easily overcome. Considering that they boast the likes of Zdeno Chara and arguably the best goalie in the league, Tuukka Rask, it is easy to see why the Bruins will be able to shine this season.
Although Boston has a capable team with their current crop of players, the Chicago Blackhawks probably have a more complete set of talents. Gambling directory reports that almost every time that the Blackhawks go into a match they are the favorites and any team that comes up against them is deemed an automatic underdog.
However due to the presence of the Bruins, Chicago had to take second spot on the power rankings list. Some corners of the sporting arena would like to believe that had the Blackhawks played in the East, then they would have taken up the first spot on the charts.
The predicted point total for the Pittsburg Penguins stands at 105.5, which has granted them 3rd place on the rankings. They share some similarities with the Bruins in the fact that they also have the power to overcome many opponents with relative ease, taking into consideration the group of players at their disposal.
Impressive centers Paul Stastny and Finnish Jori Lehtera have been added to the St. Louis Blues, a factor that has helped them advance greatly to the forefront of the charts and claim the number four spot on the power rankings. The Blues are also among the most promising teams to go far this season and ultimately claim the Presidents’ Cup.
San Jose Sharks sit at fifth place with a total point prediction of 102.5, while the Anaheim Ducks (105.5) and the Los Angeles Kings (106.5) have sealed the 6th and 7th spots respectively. The Kings have some work to do if they are to replicate their success of winning the championship for a third time in their history.
The New York Rangers and the Tampa Bay Lightning occupy the 8th and 9th positions respectively. The two teams have some issues to solve if they are to make some progress and hopefully climb up the power rankings ladder, according to gambling news.
Colorado Avalanche is currently positioned in 10th place, which realistically reflects their current state. Goalie Semyon Varlamov has done a remarkable job during last season, as he has often referred to as the hero of the team. However, Avalanche must step up their game and be less dependable on their goalie and seek better instructions from coach Patrick Roy.
