The first golfing major of the year at TPC Harding Park will be different without the crowds. The atmosphere significantly muted. However, this won’t stop the cream of the golfing world battling fiercely for the title. Unfortunately, because of recent performances, the odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship are not the best. Online sportsbook sites in the US like Bovada are offering just 14/1 on him winning. But does that really mean you should back another player?
It won’t be the same without the fans. Few sports are. However, you can’t help thinking the deafening silence might be of benefit to the world’s top golfers. No distractions. Whether or not this will help the somewhat floundering Rory McIlroy is debatable. The odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship at Harding Park aren’t all they could be. After a recent string of mediocre performances, this may not be his weekend. He is, after all up against the best in the world.
“It’s going to be very different.” Admitted Tiger Woods. “But it’s still a major championship. There’s going to be plenty of energy from the competitive side.” He’ll be playing in the same group as Rory. Perhaps that’s why the odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship are so flat. Alongside Tiger and Justin Thomas for the first two rounds, Rory stares stiff competition right in the face. Those who frequently bet on sports in the US at Bovada, etc, then take note.
Bovada Has The Best Odds On Golf In The US
“My game is in a good place.” Justin Thomas said, all business. “At the end of the day, I just need to execute once I get out on the golf course and tee it up.” Which sounds very determined. The bookies like Bovada give Thomas just 10/1 to win. This is significantly shorter than the odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship. 10/1 is the same price Brooks Koepka is getting, and he’s won this twice, in the last two years. Winning for the third time in a row is not beyond him.
Bet On The PGA Championship
- Jason Day – 35/1
- Daniel Berger – 35/1
- Tiger Woods – 35/1
- Collin Morikawa – 30/1
- Webb Simpson – 28/1
- Patrick Cantlay – 25/1
- Dustin Johnson – 22/1
- Xander Schauffele – 16/1
- Bryson Dechambeau – 16/1
- Rory McIlroy – 14/1
- Jon Rahm – 14/1
- Justin Thomas – 10/1
- Brooks Koepka – 10/1
“I feel good.” Brooks smiles easily. “I feel like my game’s right there. This is where we wanted to be. Peaking for the PGA.” Which should give the rest of the field cause for pause. On the form, he’s very hard to beat. Those taking advantage of US gambling laws to take up the odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship ought to remember that. It’s not as if Brooks were the only one seeking glory either. Lurking well down the prices at Bovada is grand slam chaser, Jordan Spieth.
Odds On Rory McIlroy In The US PGA Championship – 14/1
Spieth barely gets 66/1 at the bookies. However, his ability to snap into a groove on the big stage makes him an interesting wild card wager. If you like a bet on golf that has a bit more risk to it, Spieth is definitely worth it. The US PGA Championship odds might be a bit parsimonious to Rory, but on Spieth, that’s almost generous. The 35/1 on Tiger Woods is similarly very tempting as a speculative punt. By comparison, the odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship just aren’t that inviting.

“It’s not as if I don’t know that I can do it.” McIlroy is remaining calm despite his doldrums, “I’ve done it before. It’s not as if I don’t have the capability.” He explained, going on to say that as a player; “You want to win the biggest events.” The problem is the odds on Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship don’t really indicate he will. Neither do his recent performances, frankly. So if you hit up online betting sites in the US like Bovada, perhaps take a punt on someone else this year.
