Gambling in Kuwait is one of the last things you want to be caught doing as the country continues to stand its ground on imposing severe penalties to violators despite Waleed Al-Nasser’s call to legalize gambling and alcohol last year.
According to gambling news, a total of 11 foreigners have been arrested in a recent raid for turning one of the flats in Salmiya area into a gambling den which has attracted a constant trickle of visitors to it – both locals and foreigners. A security source revealed that among the arrested gambling in Kuwait were seven Asians and four Arabs believed to have been running the secret gambling den for awhile before being raided.
It was reported that the flat was heavily scrutinized by authorities following a tip-off about illegal gambling activities that were taking place there. Similar to UAE gambling laws, there are no exceptions for foreigners or locals to partake in any form of gambling activities.
Increasing Demand for Gambling In Kuwait
Despite the country’s efforts to ban gambling in Kuwait, demands are still increasing at an alarming rate. Last year, a Kuwaiti doctor was arrested for reportedly running an illegal casino alongside 33 other people who were also arrested at the raid. Among them is a casino owner from the United States as well as a few other professionals who operated in international gambling halls.
With access to the internet, authourities are faced with a larger concern as more and more players are turning to online casinos instead especially those that accept players from Kuwait. It has been reported that many are gambling through social networking sites mainly on Poker, Blackjack and Roulette.
