NHL GameCenter Live have come up with an innovative idea of selling single-team package for the league.
Ice-hockey is one of the most popular sports in the United States of America. Hence, the National Hockey League, also known as NHL, is followed by millions of people every year from every single state.
• Single-team package is a cheap way to watch hockey
• Single-team package is not available in every state
• Single-team package in not completely fair
However, there were many complaints for cable service providers for the useless channels. Hockey fans wanted cheaper packages in which all they can follow in their favourite hockey team. That is how the single-team package has been born.
Single-team package, the cheaper way to support your team
US gambling news report that there were major challenges in June between hockey fans, the NHL and local broadcasters. The hockey fans went on a class-action lawsuit, because they had problems with broadcasters like MSG in New York and Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia.
The most important point of that occurrence is that players will be able to buy cheaper tv packages thanks to that movement. From now on, hockey fans will be able to buy packages to follow only one team. This way, this will be able to pay less than what the full package costs, and they won’t follow all the teams, only their favourites.
According to this innovative package offered by television broadcasters, hockey fans will be able to purchase the rights to watch the games of their favourite teams. They will be able to buy Flyers-only or Sharks-only packages, and they will have to pay less, although they will see less matches.
Single-team package needs either cable or satellite
The single-team package will be cheaper than the full package, however you cannot save too much money on it. Its price will be 20% less than that of the full package. The price for NHL GameCenter Live’s full package will be reduced by 17,25% for the season 2015-16, compared to the season 2014-15.
That means that for the next season, the package will cost USD 132 for the entire season, according to mobile betting sites. If we do a quick Maths calculation, we will shortly realize that taking 20% off of that price, and we will get to USD 105 – this will be the price for the single-team package.
One interesting fact about the innovative idea of the National Hockey League is that the NHL Center Live will be the used platform in which the single-team package will be made available. However, hockey fans will need to use either cable or satellite and be subscribed for those. The settlement says nothing about the necessity of DirecTV or Comcast, so it’s still unknown.
Single-team package is not available everywhere
That is some fantastic piece of news as most hockey fans agree. They will be free to follow every single matches of their beloved teams while they will not have to spend way too much money on something useless – they would pay more for something they are not interested, but this way, they only get what they want.
Even though the great innovative idea of the TV companies, the single-team package will not be available everywhere. For example it will be impossible to watch the Flyers game for those who are in the Philadelphia market, according to the reports of online betting sites.
For those who are left out of the market, this will mean that they will need another subscription if they want to watch all the games of their favourite teams. That is, because this offer only applies for those matches that are available on GCL, so the USD 105 package will not be able to broadcast matches that are aired on NBC or NBC Sports Network.
The single-team package is a little bit unfair
The package becomes a little bit tricky because not all team’s prices are the same. Well, we have to pay USD 105 for all team’s packages, but for certain teams we can see less, while at other teams we will be able to watch all of their matches. And all this for the same price, which seems a bit unfair at first.
For Example, in the Vancouver area, all the 82 matches will be broadcast by national television. That means that the supporter pays the USD 105 for the single-team package, and will be able to watch all the 82 matches of the beloved team. In this case, each game costs USD 1.28 (USD 105 divided by the number of games, which is 82).
However, according to the reports of online gambling sites in US, we will have to pay the same amount even if that means we will pay to see less matches. The worst case is in the Chicago area, where only 61 games will be available. It will cost USD 105, like any other package, yet if it was a fair deal, it would go for USD 78.11.
