To help him cope with the enormous grief of suffering through a humbling game versus Germany, Neymar decided to play poker and not watch the final minutes of the match.
Neymar’s back injury prevented him from helping his country fight for the final. Instead, without the talisman striker the hosts suffered a humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany. Neymar watched the game at home with his family, but following the 7th goal he decided he couldn’t bear it anymore and turned off the TV.
The Brazilian forward, who has previously shown interest in Brazilian poker rooms, said, “I don’t want to watch this s–t! Let’s go and play poker.” By switching off the TV after the Germans scored their final goal means that Neymar possibly missed his compatriot Oscar scoring the consolation goal towards the end of the match.
Neymar’s confidence in a win didn’t turn out as expected
It has also been stated that his mother cried heavily as Brazil’s hopes of lifting their 6th World Cup title have been dashed. However, neither Neymar nor his father (Neymar Sr.) shed any tears, as they couldn’t comprehend the unbelievable result.
Gambling news reports that hours before the match kicked-off, Neymar sent out a message to his teammates expressing strong support and confidence that they could win the game without his help. However, as it turned out they were not only denied a chance to enter the final but experienced a loss that will haunt them in the future.
