As more and more states are considering legalizing internet gambling in the US, Wynn Resorts will develop new mobile casinos in Philadelphia
Given the recent changes in American gambling laws that have led to more and more states creating, or at least considering the legalizing of internet gambling, mobile casino developers are planning ahead. Wynn Resorts is currently looking for someone to manage the company’s online department.
The company seems to be interested in developing a US internet casino and consequently a management position has recently been made available. According to the job add, the Director of Products will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the company’s “real-money and social casino products on mobile, tablet and desktop web”.
Wynn’s plans to develop new mobile casinos have aroused debate over the legalization of online gambling in the state of Pennsylvania. As the neighboring states of New Jersey and Delaware already allow this new form of betting, Pennsylvania officials have recently called for a thorough investigation of online gambling and the impact it might have on the state’s development.
Philadelphia Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Alan Greenberger believes that online casinos won’t become legal in Pennsylvania if the state-ordered study finds that they’re activity might hurt the existing bricks-and-mortar casino business. Furthermore, Greenberg doesn’t believe that Wynn Resorts chose Pennsylvania as a strategic move, but rather for geographical convenience.
On this matter, owner Steve Wynn added: “The group exploring online gaming for Wynn Resorts happens to be based in Philadelphia. Their work and the fact that they live in Philadelphia have no relationship to the specific gaming activity in Pennsylvania”.
It’s sure that Wynn don’t hold the same views on online gambling as competitor Las Vegas Sands and their outspoken billionaire owner Sheldon Adelson. Indeed, Adelson has been very critical of online gambling in general, stating that it will cause the death of land based casinos.
Whether his predictions come true or not, he’s managed to prevent Nevada law makers from allowing casino games online, even if he failed at blocking online gambling as a whole.
