  • The second editions of the Nations League will start next week
  • 55 teams are playing in four leagues which are divided into additional groups
  • Defending champions Portugal will host Croatia on Sunday

The second edition of the new UEFA tournament, the Nations League will start next week with the first round in the league stage. The biggest games are expected in League A, where the strongest teams are playing. But football fans of other, smaller countries can also support their favorites during the tournament. In the Nations League betting preview we checked the favorites of the first few games.

This year after the postponement of the European Championship the Nations League might become more important for the national teams and for the fans as well. As after a long break finally everyone can see their home team again in action in a real competition. The new league might not be as prestigious, but it provides a great opportunity for finding the best team for next year’s Euros. Portugal won the first edition of the tournament last year and is ranked first ahead of the Netherlands and England. But defending world champions France, Germany and Belgium are also in the favorites for the final victory.

Nations League betting preview predict German win on first day

The tournament will start with a very promising game next Thursday, when Germany will host Spain. The hosts are the favorites to win the game with the odds of 2.30. Following Bayern Munich’s outstanding performance hopefully we can see a similar play from the German team. Even though only two Bayern players are part of the squad, defender Niklas Süle and freshly signed Leroy Sane. But other top players like Timo Werner, Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan are also part of the team.

Let’s play!

The Spanish team has superb players too, but they haven’t performed too well in recent tournaments. They were knocked-out in the last World Championship in the last 16 by Russia and finished second in their group in the previous Nations League.  But the team showed better performance recently and won their Euro2020 qualifying group. With a mixture of experienced and young players, they will have a chance to find the best team for next year. Their odds to win in Stuttgart is 3.10 on bet365. While on the day’s other big game Russia will host Serbia with the hosts being the favorites with the odds of 2.20

Other top games on the following match days

On Friday another interesting game will be played between Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The teams are in League B and have been in the same group last time as well. Then the Czech team won both games, now they have the odds of 2.62 to do so. But even online sportsbooks in Slovakia can’t decide, and offer almost the same odds, 2.60 for a home win. The Slovakian team was close to qualifying for the 2018 World Cup and just missed out as the worst runner-up. They haven’t qualified yet for the Euro2020 either, but will have the opportunity to prepare now for the play-off games.

Defending champions Portugal will play on Sunday against Croatia at home. They have the odds of 1.83 to win in the Nations League betting preview. But surely they won’t have an easy game against Croatia who finished as the runner-up in the last World Cup. They also won their qualifying group for the European Championship and will play alongside England and the Czech Republic in the tournament.
