Race Lasts Less Than A Minute At Glorious Goodwood 2019
It’ll only take them around fifty seven seconds to blast the five furlongs to the finish but the King George Stakes odds on Battaash the bookies like Bet365, one of the best online betting sites in the UK today, are handing out give none of the others a chance. Can it really do the impossible and win it three times on bounce or will this reign come to an end at the hooves of El Astronaute, Sergei Prokofiev or Big Brothers Pride as they race on the fourth day of Glorious Goodwood?
No horse has won it three times, let alone three times in a row, but at the 1/3 price on offer the bookies seem to have convinced themselves that the King George Stakes odds on Battaash are somehow destined to cost them money. Of course, with such a small margin awaiting that back this most firm of favorites the canny gambler will naturally look at the rest of the field and see if there isn’t an each-way wager which might boost their bankroll far more than an on-the-nose bet.
Not that even an each-way wager should perhaps be placed on the likes of Little Kim or Intense Romance. They each get 66/1, which might present a larger margin than those King George Stakes odds on Battaash, but hardly a likely one. Far closer up on the leader are Ornate and Houtzen, although at 33/1 they’d still need high powered binoculars to see the head of the field and neither one really entices anyone to tak advantage of UK gambling laws at Goodwood.
Copper Knight Could Make Your Day At Goodwood
Bet365 is offering up 25/1 on Rebecca Rocks which only looks palatable until you noticed Rumble Inthejungle is getting 20/1 along with Judicial. That’s the sort of price that should attract all you risk-takers who shied away from those King George Stakes odds on Battaash, and indeed Judicial might be worth a speculative place punt. Of course, it’ll have to make a blindingly fast start to get in position for a lunge at the line, and it won’t be the only horse trying the same thing.
2019 King George Stakes Odds
- Intense Romance – 66/1
- Little Kim – 66/1
- Houtzen – 33/1
- Ornate – 33/1
- Rebecca Rocks – 25/1
- Judicial – 20/1
- Rumble Inthejungle – 20/1
- Copper Knight – 16/1
- Big Brothers Pride – 12/1
- Sergei Prokofiev – 10/1
- El Astronaute – 7/1
- Battaash – 1/3
At 16/1Copper Knight could be the dark horse of this race, it won over this distance at York just a few weeks ago and that price is massively more alluring than the King George Stakes odds on Battaash. Even for the faithless an each-way wager on it could well be the best bet on sports in the UK this week. Whether the same can be said for Big Brothers Pride at 12/1 is questionable having not won since April although that was over half a furlong further than this 1,006m dash.
King George Stakes Odds On Battaash Just 1/3 At Bet365
Sergei Prokofiev has not had the best of summers. Its last winner was in March at Navan and since then hasn’t seemed able to step on the gas when necessary. Sure the bookies like Bet365 give it 10/1 but realistically Copper Knight is a better bet despite the difference in price on offer. If you’ve dismissed the tiny King George Stakes on Battaash it might be a shame to waste your wager on what has sadly been an under performer this year. Unlike El Astronaute at a neat 7/1.

Despite sliding into 2nd at Curragh in its last race it has seen off competition both there and at York this season and is perhaps the horse destined to beat that ridiculously priced favorite. The King George Stakes on Battaash are almost microscopic at Bet365, one of the best online sportbooksites in the UK these days, however, with Copper Knight ready to snaffle a place finish on the day, this could well still be a profitable five furlongs of fun for us flutterers.
