Andy Murray may propose to long time girlfriend Kim Sears this summer after a 9 year romance
Olympic champion and defending Wimbledon winner Andy Murray, the man who put the dour back into winning competitions, is again under intense scrutiny not for the quality of his tennis but the state of his love life.
When earlier this year the twittersphere subjected itself to a bout of Murray marriage madness the 27 year old star had to issue a denial after a joke went awry. So he says.
This time online sportsbooks in the UK consider it no joke with the 8/1 chance of his both winning the Wimbledon Men’s Final AND proposing to long time love Kim Sears getting lots of takers.
A spokesman for the bookmakers said “That price was backed heavily”, adding “Maybe someone saw him buying a ring.”
So heavily they stopped taking bets on it.
Never believe anything until it’s officially denied
Of course a representative for Murray said they weren’t sure what the source of the speculation was but that it was “complete nonsense”, almost guaranteeing it to be true.
William Hill are still offering 33/1 on the slightly less likely possibility of Murray winning the final and then proposing live on the BBC but it remains to be seen if the typically camera shy Kim will play ball, thus far online gambling sites in the UK believe she will.
Kim Sears, 26, met Andy in 2005 and they’ve been inseparable now living together in Surrey.
When asked about his future with Miss Sears the normally quite reluctant interviewee Murray said ‘I can see myself having a family one day. It is something that I’m starting to think about because Kim and I have been together for years.’
