  • 2021 Portuguese MotoGP race is held this weekend, 16-18 April
  • Local favorite Miguel Oliveira won the race here last year
  • He is in the favorites again just like the returning 8-time world champion Marquez

The 2021 MotoGP season continues this weekend in Portugal with the third race of the season. What makes this race even more special that the eight-time world champion, Marc Marquez will compete for the first time here since his accident last season. Now he is already in the favorites of the MotoGP Portuguese race winner odds just like a local hero.

The first Portuguese MotoGP race was held in 1987 then it returned back to the calendar only in 2000. Until 2012 the Estoril Circuit hosted the event while MotoGP came back to the country last season. But now the race is held in the Algarve International Circuit, close to the city of Portimao. The track is like a rollercoaster with its downhill descent, making it a real special experience for all riders. Local favorite Miguel Oliveira won the race here last season and he is in the favorites again. While Marc Marquez’s return will surely make all motorsport fans even more excited. The 6-time MotoGP champion suffered a huge accident in the beginning of last season which forced him to leave out the rest of the season. Now he is ready to race again and compete for the title.

MotoGP Portuguese race winner odds favor Oliveira ahead of Quartararo

Miguel Oliveira won the race here last year after also winning the qualifying on Saturday. The Portuguese rider has known the track well which surely helped him to get the victory. But the great tire-management of his KTM bike also gave him a big advantage. As none of the other riders could match his speed. Unlike the first two races of this season. Where Oliveira just didn’t have the pace and only finished in 13th and 15th place. Now he has a chance to get a much better result on home soil. And the odds of 4.88 to win his third MotoGP race by online sportsbooks in Portugal.

Less goo!

The winner of the previous race in Qatar, Fabio Quartararo is currently in second place in the championship. He started the season well just like last year. Now the French rider is hoping to keep his good form in Europe too. He finished only 14th here in 2020, but he will have more knowledge about the circuit now. While his team, Monster Energy Yamaha can also prepare better for the race. With 5.50 in the MotoGP Portuguese race winner odds, Quartararo is a top favorite. Just like his teammate, Maverick Vinales who won the first race in Qatar and stands in third place. The Spanish rider was also out of the top 10 last season but should get a better result now.

Can Marquez finish on top at his first race?

Marc Marquez will return back to racing after a nine-month break following his accident in the first race of last season. His recovery took longer than it was expected but the 8-time world champion has been back on the bike for a few weeks now. He even tested on the Algarve circuit to get to know the track, where he hasn’t raced before. So online gambling sites in Portugal already mention him in the top favorites with the odds of 5.95. Expecting a win from Marquez already on his first race might be too optimistic, but the Honda rider is one of the few riders who can actually do it.

The current leader of the championship, Ducati rider Johann Zarco started the season brilliantly. He finished as a runner-up in both Qatar races. Now he will try to continue in a similar style in Portugal where he finished 10th last year. Now the French rider seems to be much faster and can finish further ahead. Just like another Ducati rider, Jack Miller did in 2020. The Australian was second in the race but he is not likely to repeat his performance after his arm surgery. Both of them have the odds of 12.00 to win this race on 22Bet.
