The next Formula 1 Grand Prix is coming at the beginning of May. While the list of favorites and underdogs hasn’t changed much, check out the Miami GP 2024 odds to know who to support next weekend.
What’s the current situation in Formula 1?
Last weekend, Max Verstappen secured his fourth victory in five races, marking his very first triumph in China. As a triple champion, he began from pole position, which was also Red Bull’s 100th pole, extending his streak to five consecutive races this season. This win has propelled him to a 25-point lead over Sergio Perez following his success in the Saturday sprint race.
With this Shanghai victory, Verstappen now boasts 58 wins out of 190 starts, leading the odds at online sportsbooks in the US to win another title. On the other hand, his teammate Perez faced challenges as he initially lost ground to Alonso and took five laps to regain his position. However, the intervention of safety car periods worked against his strategy. This podium finish marks Perez’s 39th. Red Bull currently enjoys a 44-point advantage over Ferrari in the standings.
Lando Norris keeps holding good Miami GP 2024 odds and the record for the most podium finishes without a win, now reaching 15 podiums with eight second-place finishes. Despite securing a sprint pole on Friday, the British driver began the race from fourth position. He took the lead when Verstappen made a pit stop and finished the race with just one pit stop. Piastri encountered a major setback as his car suffered significant damage from a collision with Ricciardo, who in turn was hit by Stroll during the first restart following the safety car period. Piastri had to make two pit stops due to the damage.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso initially claimed second position at the beginning of the race but subsequently lost ground. He opted for three pit stops, running 20 laps on soft tires before switching to new mediums for his final stint, during which he gained five positions. Also, he secured a bonus point for setting the fastest lap. Stroll’s race was marred by an incident where he collided with the back of Ricciardo when the safety car period ended, resulting in a 10-second penalty for causing the collision.
Both Ferrari drivers made just one pit stop during the race, adjusting their strategy when the virtual safety car was activated. Sainz notably completed a 39-lap stint on the hard tires, which was the longest stint among all drivers, starting from lap 17 after his initial pit stop. Despite starting from sixth and seventh positions on the grid, they successfully followed their strategy during the race.
Lewis Hamilton, who secured second place in the Saturday sprint, climbed from 18th to 9th by beginning with the soft tire and eventually utilizing all three compounds. Russell swiftly overtook both Ferraris on the first lap and opted for two pit stops during the race.
What are the Miami GP 2024 odds?
The next race in Miami is built perfectly for Red Bull and Ferrari cars, which suffer the most minor tire degradation, so online gambling sites in the US expect them to finish in the first four spots, with McLaren drivers after them in 5th and 6th places. Aston Martin and Mercedes, out of the top teams, are the weakest in tire effectiveness, so they will be fighting for 7th to 10th places, and most likely, Alonso once again will be the best out of them and might even charge at McLaren.
